DISCUSSION -- April 2014 75+5 Word Writing Challenge

Well met, Starbeast. It's been years since I last made an entry, so my writing is a bit rusty. Puns and acronyms were an easy way to spice up the conversation. Thank you for the review.

Thank you, Starbeast, for your review! There's been so much debate about physical books vs. e-readers, that I thought, "What would this be like in Victorian England?" I used humor because I think we all need a little lightheartedness on occasion.

There are many wonderful stories, and I think the real "word challenge" will be for the judges!

Yes - Big Thanks SB. It's really entertaining to read your thoughts & reactions! Not just to my own, either - although that is MUCH appreciated - especially this time as you set the challenge!

...and Bowler - you're right y'know. Perish the thought that I'd suggest 'guilt' on the part of any party regarding...er..."zappings" without substantial evidence. Cor, me sir, no sir...that'd be a right old 'doin' over'!

Too right. The implication being I can't shoot using my new and expensive sniper's sight. Not that I'm admitting any use of said sight, no, no... not me!

You're welcome Telford. And thank you for the comment.

Ratsy - Very cool oceanic exploration adventure. A resercher travels deep into the mysterious unexplored regions of the sea to find out if a creature of myth is real or imaginary. Marvelous.

Thanks SB for the review. Apreesh :D

Thanks for the review, Starbeast. Thanks also for the intriguing topic/ genre combination.

You're welcome TitaniumTi, and thank you for the compliment. I tried my best to think up something that wasn't too stressful, and fun at the same time. Plus, I wanted to challenge myself.

Thanks for the great review StarBeast. And an fun genre to write in, which I had never really looked at before.

You're welcome Farntfar. I've noticed the interest in STEAMPUNK by most members, and I am aware of the fantasy lovers out there. I wanted to do something for the fans out there, like myself.

If you're interested in "Steampunk" films, I'm sure just about everyone can recommend a few favorites. Mine for the moment is, Howl's Moving Castle (2004).

Thanks for the kind words, Starbeast! Btw, so many great stories so far, I can already see voting is gonna be soooo difficult for me :)

You're very welcome Holland. I agree, voting is tough with so many talented people here.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Starbeast. :) I honestly think the reviews are the best part of the challenges!

You're very sweet Juliana, thank you for your stunning compliment. You made my night. And, big welcomes back to you. I found a good moment to review everybody who posted (so far).

Wow, Juliana, that is a terrific statement! Just a wonderful sentiment. I agree! :)

Aww, thank you so much Cat's. You've made my night shine with moonlight.

Thanks for the nice review, Starbeast! I will echo some of the others by saying "Great topic & genre!"

Thank you very much Johnnyjet, I'm becoming overwhelmed with joy. A big welcomes back at you.

Thanks for the review Starbeast! My name's spelled slightly wrong, but that's fine since you gave me a great review.

You are immensely welcome SirSamuelVimes. Sorry about the misspelling, I try to proof read before posting a big page, but late at night, I can be a notorious typo monster. Plus I noticed other mistakes I made. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the review SB!

Absolutely, Tywin. I wanted to make sure everyone knows how great their stories really are, including yours my friend.

Well met, Starbeast. It's been years since I last made an entry, so my writing is a bit rusty. Puns and acronyms were an easy way to spice up the conversation. Thank you for the review.

You're very welcome Cornelius. And, I don't think you're rusty at all. Nice to have you back in the game.

You're immensely welcome SirGeoffrey. I highly agree about bringing a touch of comedy into a story. However, I'm also very impressed by the entries with drama, and others with sweetness injected into the mix of fine tales.

Also, thank you for the friendship invite. Nice to know you Sir.

Yes - Big Thanks SB. It's really entertaining to read your thoughts & reactions! Not just to my own, either - although that is MUCH appreciated - especially this time as you set the challenge!

You're mighty welcome Stormcrow, and I return to you a megaton of thanks for you wonderful comment. I'm still thrilled to be a winner of a challenge, and I wanted to give something back to the members here, by coming up with a theme and genre that is a big interest to most.

As for my reviews, I'm just being myself. I want to let people know that their tales are entertaining too, like yours my friend.

BTW, you have another cool avatar, which is also befitting this challenge.

Thanks SB for the review. Apreesh :D

You've welcome Ratsy. It's always a pleasure to see you among us.

Chrispy, that's brilliant! :D

Why, thank you, oh stripy one; but it needed a closure which wouldn't fit into the word count nohow, and I suspect it's sufficiently cryptic that few will get the intended sense. It needs to be half again as long, I fear. Perhaps I'll put the entire version into 'how to improve'…

How to Improve Your Dragon? :D

Somebody had better come along and post an even better story, so I don't have to vote for you again. It's entirely against my principles.*

*The principle of self-preservation being foremost.

As Sam so eloquently put it "Well, I'm back".

Great to see Starbeast has won the Challenge, well done dude!

I was expecting a theme of Star Trek in the style of Monty Python for this month's challenge, but it ended up far tougher (but just as enjoyable). And of course the one month we get extra words, my entry doesn't even need the usual 75 - ah well!

Some great entries so far, looking forward to reading and voting on the rest.

Thanks for the nice review, Victoria! It's difficult to put any depth of meaning into something so short, so it's great to get your confirming feedback.
