I wanted to sign up but I fear I am too late. Everyone has already gotten their writing assignments. Perhaps next time :)

Hey, you didn't give your desired subject. It's not August yet, so don't lose hope. If you want in, it should still be thinkable.

Sure but mine is in the same Union as yours; Writers and Choreographers General Union of Blesséd Misery, right? So you'll probably get stuck over the same rights.

Word of advice: Mine's a mug for Pringles and chilli sauce, with tea on the side; he's a real glutton! Maybe you should try it on yours.

I am now finished work till Sept (apart from teaching at gyms) so I am going to throw myself into my SS4 now.

Sorry and Double Sorry I've been so otherwhere, I really thought I'd have more time to promote this and make sure that everyone's questions got answered liketty split.

Life got a hold of me, and then work took a chunk of time out with its big hungry teeth and long reaching claws, and then computers started dieing (we're down by half) (I really need to make the time to see if someone can recover the data on the tara-drive I broke...) ANYWAY!

I just wanted to drop in and see if there were any last min requests to add to my data sheet and see how people are doing.
I'm glad to hear that the muses have put their extra time to use, and are driving you writers with whip and chain, I MEAN "being so nice and inspire-y"

Birthday parties and extra hours will tie me up this weekend and next, but I PROMISE *crosses heart* that I'll be back after that to cheer people on and such.
 
Thanks for checking in. This being the first of August, I thought I would get started. So far I have about two hundred handwritten words scrawled on a sheet of paper. About par for the course for me.
 
Well, Cat's Cradle made a request to get in, and WordSpinner decided to wait for the next one, so you only have one new person since last time. Which should be fun. :D

Thanks for bringing my request up, Dusty! I would still like to be in, but I'd PMd Hope awhile ago to let her know that I have guests from America the first two weeks of August...I haven't gotten a story/writing request yet, so I think if I do get one, I won't be able to start until the 15th or later of August. This will be the longest thing I've ever tried, so I'd guess I would finish maybe...mid Septemberish. Does that still work for the Secret Santa time requirements?

But maybe there isn't another story request, yet (other than my own weird request). At this point, should I sit this out, and wait for the next one? Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts, merci! CC
 
Your in, no worries. I got your note, but didnt have anything to send you at the time. I am working on your request atm, and will get it to you as soon as I can. No worries about your time line, the 1k word marker is a sugestion, not a requirement. How ever many words it takes for you to get the requested story in is good enough for the excersize.

I started something and then stopped because it sucked...having a hard time with this one...and i better get on it because im away the last 7 days of the month!

I'm afraid I haven't even managed to think about mine yet. I shall probably be the one at the end begging for more time while the rest of you sit and grumble about me.

This is why I liked doing the organizing instead of the writing!

Hi everyone! Apologies for my absence from this thread lately!

I have decided to go all out, and write (attempt) the longest story I have ever written. It might be 3,500 words, or more. I'm 75% done with the original draft; I'm looking forward to my first edit...trying to unify the POV, tenses, character names (early in the piece I was calling a character "weapons instructor", before I thought of a name for him)...well, everything! I am anxious to see how well it all holds together on my first real read-through of the entire piece.

It has been a lot of fun trying this--just seeing a little of what everyone has been talking about with the conceptualizing, writing, and editing of something longer than 75 or 300 words (just trying to hold everything together in my head). I have no idea if the story will be good, but I think/hope it will be a fairly good by the time I'm done! Hope everyone else is doing well with their tales, CC
 
Well the idea for mine is now in my head, so that's a start. Writing it is the easy part....;)

(what? i didn't say it would be good...haha)
