DISCUSSION -- February 2015 75-word Writing Challenge

OK, here's my list:

Unnatural Death report by StillLearning. - One of those 'evil chuckle' stories.
Masquerade by Culwitch - Desperately sad.
The Parade of Spirits by Johnnyjet - Day of the dead indeed!
Meeting of the Courts by Fishbowl Helmet - If it isn't genuine folklore its a brilliant recreation.
Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler! by Robert MacKay - See above.
Magic Trick by Mr Orange - Nice reversal of expectations.

And the winner is........... Culwitch for a lovely but sad 75-word tragedy (Now tell me I've misinterpreted it! :))
 
In a rush as I'm not meant to be here (nearly forgot it was voting day!) so no time for a proper shortlist, but just to say there was something in almost every story that had an appeal for me (I particularly liked Hex's vengence on bottom-squeezers and Teresa's tarot cards) but my vote goes to Victoria's mirror-woman.

Purry feline thanks for the short-listings and mentions all, and for the kind reviews by the resident reviewers of course.

Telford, just back from the hospital, takes a deep breath. Firstly thanks to Dusty for the mention, Teresa for the runner up and Martin 321 for the vote. Many thanks to everyone for the congrats. Immensely grateful (and stunned speechless).

Crystal Haven, I expected sanity to prevail and that your cleverly amusing entry to get a dozen late votes. Commiserations, and well done.

Over the last five years on this wonderful site I've tried to keep up with the brilliance of my fellow Chrons and have not really been in the race. With my limited talents I've spent days, weeks working on a story that doesn't work. Considering the company I keep that isn't a problem. I just like to participate in the contest.

Now to the bunny. I knocked this out in ten minutes and gave it little thought after that. Life's funny like that.

I have submitted my thoughts for the March challenge and, if approved, should be a good bit of fun. Ursa will looooove this challenge but I'm sure all Chrons will step up. Good luck everyone, and have some fun with it.
 
That's usually the case -- the story you're sure will be a winner, that you worked for a week polishing, gets nothing, while the story you knocked off in ten minutes takes home the roses. And after all, your bunny, if not your story, needed those roses. :D

The challenge theme is hanging on the wall in the staff room, awaiting darts. I'll have to ask all the early risers to hang tight while it's being cussed and discussed, and nobody have a conniption -- it's a March thing. Just be glad we don't still have two days of tie-break voting!
