Thank you Victoria for your review.
I can't fault Perp's review, you do have my entry summed up in one word - so hey, thanks.

My pleasure Bowler.

It is a bit harder than I thought doing these things one word.

Some superb entries so far, but then when are they not.

I had (what I thought) was a unique idea myself, then realised that someone else had done exactly what I was going to do. First time that has happened for me so back to the drawing board.

Harusame -- Heroic individuals have often made great sacrifices in the name of duty. Granted that courage must be honored, one must wonder when it becomes recklessness. To sacrifice physical or psychological health, or even life, for a noble cause is an act of greatness. When the cause is questionable, or the action ineffective, it is a tragedy.

*blushes* thank you. :)

Great stories, loads of new faces. (And one not-so-new-in-cunning-disguise @BluePhoenix711 ;) :))
No! I've been found out! Time for a new disguise. . . *rummages through smelly gym bag*

P.S. Thank you, Victoria, for the eloquent and spot-on review. And to Perp, definitely no other word for it except that.

Great entries so far. I haven't a single thought in my head for this month's for some reason, but I'll enter something, even if it's only 'Rhubarb' 75 times.

Moderators, please remove the following shameless advertising if it is bending the rules too far:

If you have your 75 word story in and are tapping your fingers impatiently waiting for the next challenge, don't forget there's an anonymous 100 word challenge over in the Workshop. We've some good entries there, too, and there's always room for more.

marmalade -- The essence of consciousness is its subjectivity. You and I cannot share the exact same sensations, even in the same situation, because our perceptions are different. To experience the impressions of another would be to dive into another reality, one which might bewilder us with its lack familiarity. Fortunately, we have words to give each other some idea of what we think.

Thanks for the review Victoria. A big mess was what I was hoping for and I'm happy I got it...

Parson, I guess Artful Dodger is what I get when I try to give a princess an ironic accent!

Perp, thanks for the one-liner. Glad I entertained.

Hopefully I'll find time in my, uh, hectic holiday to get back on here regular-like

I'll take a clever from Perp any day of the week. Succinct review, and much appreciated.

Thank you for the review Victoria!
I went back and read my story after reading this and realised it's a hell of a lot more cryptic than I thought it was. Ah well, if anyone can fathom my blabberings they probably deserve a prize.

Venusian Broon -- At times it seems as if the unavoidable repetition of everyday life is endless. A rat race is a race where no one wins. Why struggle to complete tasks that must be redone over and over again? It takes a special kind of determination to break out of this pattern and do what must be done.

johnnyjet -- As William Faulkner reminded us, "The past is never dead. It's not even past." The choices we make in life continue to haunt us. It should be noted that Robert Frost wrote of the road not taken, not the road taken. We all create parallel lives in our imaginations. But is the grass truly greener?

Really liked VB's and JJ's stories. I feel a little bit for both of them because they have come up with original idea's that both appear to reference circularity and then managed to post them side by side but both really interesting in their own right.

NB- In terms of JJ I am working on the basis that she never gets around to leaving him. This is the Moebius escalator so you never manage to step off. Possibly encouraging for him, stultifyingly soul destroying for her. I also thought the way VB used the beginning and ending to create the loop of the story was great.

HareBrain -- When undertaking any new enterprise, we always have expectations. Without hope of success, we would never begin at all. We must be prepared, however, for the unexpected. Things rarely turn out the way we think. Reality can be a keen-edged sword that cuts both ways.

I've posted. My creative meanderings (or maunderings) took me "visiting with" Nellie Bly and a princess transformed into a (migratory) swallow, before I ended up somewhere quite different. (But not at a cricket game, HareBrain.)

Now for the second-guessing phase...

TitaniumTi -- The first rush of romance is captivating and frightening, sweeping away the lover in a storm of emotions. If the relationship continues, it is unlikely that this level of passion can be sustained. For those who are fortunate, a quieter but deeper bond develops. Sometimes, however, it is necessary to end quickly what cannot endure.
