Discussion - May 2015 100-Word Anon Writing Challenge (#6)

Perhaps record the current data... you know... before initiating the apocalypse ;)

I jest. I have every faith in your Hex-ness :D

…and it appears to be accepting again, oh bold swift one. It might not automatically close down at midnight, but that's child's play. Even I can close threads (pity I'm not a child).

But I did have all the data saved in my lists.

First of all, thank you to Hex for digging me out of a very deep hole of my own creation, and apologies. I have no idea what I did to make the dratted thing close a whole day early! Typically I have been away all morning as I have two daughters doing their A level exams and a son doing his GCSEs, all in different schools, in different towns. For our friends from over the various oceans, that means quite important school exams. Thats my excuse, anyway. Brain is slightly frazzled at the moment!

Anyway. Good work, guys.

Sancho managed 2 correct. Both have been guessed correctly before, one of them by Cascade, ratsy and CC

Holland managed 2 correct guesses. One was the same as one of CC's correct guesses and one was unique.

johnnyjet managed 2 correct and again one has been guessed before (by CC. Cascade, ratsy and Sancho) and the other was unique.

Sorry, Cascade, but your new guesses are all incorrect. Also, hopewrites, null points to you. :(

Remedy, you got 2 correct. Both are ones no one else has guessed correctly.

Fabulous stories--really diverse tales, and told beautifully. It's very hard to list/vote (even harder to guess!). Thanks again to Kerry for hosting with grace, terrific humor and professionalism...how nice that you reminded folks about the 75 worder closing! I never would have thought to do that...it was very cool of you. :)

Thanks to will and Victoria for the wonderful reviews!

First the lists, then the guesses:

shortlist:
Encapsulated diffractions
Saviour
Dialogue Without Voices
The View from Here
The Shadows of Your Smile
Ripple
Satisfaction Guaranteed
PRISONCEPTION

Finalists--

Mirror of the Soul

Vote--Translations I really connected with this from the first reading. I thought it was a super clever, and really fun, story. Well done, and congrats to all of the authors for the wonderful stories they posted!

Guesses:

I haven't read the other guesses, so if some have been declared correct, and I miss those, apologies. I would be very happy with two correct...I expect one, or zero. :)

edit--:) I had mentioned Kerry's grace in hosting...but I must say, in that moment when you decided to go with the pile of poo in reference to Jo's guesses you lost just a smidgen of the impartiality I associate with the finest examples of gracious hosting!!! :)

An interesting guessing strategy by CC - having me down for two stories! :)

Thank you, Kerry! :) I'm pleased with 2.

I've just noticed that I missed you off my guessing, Kerry. I ended up guessing Perp twice for some reason... I will assign your name to The Damnation of Qaseem

:) Hah! Yes...strategy... Although it does bring a particular (untried?) strategy to mind...if you pick the same name as the author of every story, you would get one correct answer (unless you were unlucky enough to name Red Herring as your chosen author).

BTW, mosaix...was one of my two choices correct? Wow, REALLY bad guessing if I guessed you twice, and neither was right! (I'll check after voting/guessing ends to see. :))

Magnificent stories every one.

So my short list is
Aidan......................................Reflections on so many levels
Cold Justice............................A society must reflect the belief of its members
One last kiss...........................Slow glass records the bad as well as the good.
The Legolas Concerto.............Well he deserved it.
The Princess and the mirror....Just a terrific build up of terror and a magnificent ending.

I'm going for The Princess and the mirror, because I just loved it's style.

So, I am the only one who has not the right to know his success rate?

Helpful Grid attached;)

Humblest apologies, Master. I hadn't noticed that you had put yourself on your grid. You have one correct answer, which you already knew!

And while I am on an apology roll, apologies also to Cascade. You did actually get one correct guess in your second batch of guesses. DG Jones and Sancho also guessed that same story correctly.

For the record, if anyone who is thinking of hosting this challenge (I'm looking at you, @DG Jones) thinks the poll and guessing are the easy bits. I will refer you to a certain Mr P's post, here. As usual, he is quite correct!
