Star Trek: Discovery - new series in 2017

?????? When the Klingons became completely black? I thought their physiology was well established in the NG/Voyager/DS-9/Enterprise.

We now have an answer to that, straight from one of the showrunners. Harberts said this to EW, about the Klingons' look in the show:

"In the different versions of Trek, the Klingons have never been completely consistent [...] We will introduce several different houses with different styles. Hopefully, fans will become more invested in the characters than worried about the redesign."

Essentially, then, it sounds like they aren't worried about disturbing the canon, because they don't think it was consistent in the first place.

The idea of multiple Klingon styles appearing in the show is intriguing. It'll be fun to see how that plays out.

It's not really my place to say, obviously, but doesn't that new variety of Klingon look as if it's dicing with stereotypes?

And besides, it's almost as if they don't know who Michael Dorn is....

Well, Gene Roddenberry called them Northern and Southern Klingons. So, therefore, these must be the Eastern and Western Klingons. I expect that they all fought amongst themselves until only one race survived.

Fashion-wise, he looks like he was heavily influenced by Spiderman as a teenager.

It a-piers that you may be harbouring a certain ignorance regarding a quay Star Trek character.

I don't recall any Dorns. There was Crusher, Troi, Worf, Data, and so many more... but no Dorns!
