Discussion Thread -- March 2016 75-word Writing Challenge

For a month / theme when I might have expected more fantasy, I thought there was lots of good sci-fi, and less fantasy. Which, of course, is good. So lots of good stories, and I found choosing where to throw my vote more difficult than usual. I landed with two comedy items in my top three, and the vote went to the story that I most wanted to be made into a movie. Yes, it would be quite a fight.

Cathbad - Obelisk
Ajid - Urn
Victoria Silverwolf - Penguins
J5V - quark plasma
Droflet - swine drive
Shyrka - nebulous excreta
Robert Mackay - hypomixolydia
Bowler1 - One
Serge Alexandr - flourishes
Culhwch - Nope
Ihe - runic
Cat’s Cradle - farseer
StilLearning - bamboozled
Clockworkbot - grav-anchor
Juliana - star whale
Luiglin - exosuit
DG Jones - eggy

Thanks Parson for the mention.

Good stuff from everyone.

I went for Bowler1... great idea, well written and it put a grin on my face.

Cheers for the vote and mentions. It felt a bit weird doing a 75 without the Dark Lord but he lives on in the WiP I'm about a third of the way through.

A bit under the weather at the moment. Feel like I've been hit with an errant pineapple. Will pull myself out of bed done time to read and vote. Promise.

Bowler you might have to count me out of any vigilante carry on.

Thank you for the mentions and kind comments, Victoria, Drof, Bowler, Shyrka and Glen. :)

My vote went to TDZ and her rainbow unicorn wotsits. Dusty, you had me at 'as you know, Bob.' :D

I started off with a ridiculously long list and then had to be ruthless about cutting all those I didn't think had enough fantasy. In the end, Victoria was my I-wish-I-had-one-more-vote, and my shortlist: Robert Mackay, Bowler 1, Mr Orange, Luiglin, Venusian Broon, DG Jones, Mosaix, Ratsy, and The Judge.

Oh my goodness, Juliana! I can't believe I got a vote for that. :p Thank you so much -- my day is made! And you're clearly crazy. :D

Well, hanging around this place, I sure ain't sane! :D

Bowler1 gets distracted from the delicate clinking of lightbulbs to wonder at Juliana's comments. Bemused and very baffled, he shrugs a shoulder and returns to his lightbulbs.... It has to be one of these, it has to be?

Thank you Reiver33 and Vaz for the votes. I'm stunned, but very happy. You both made my day.

And a big THANKS to everyone who mentioned my story.

I've been very sick with another throat cold and working long hours at work (I got sent home one day), so I haven't been around for a while. I was just not up for anything. I'm getting better now and taking it easy today on my day-off.

Sorry for no Lists, I don't have the mental capacity for it. Way too many excellent stories to sort through. But after many days of rereading all of the entries, I voted for BOWLER1.

As for me, everyone was a Finalist in my opinion. (y) Stay awesome everybody.

Howdy,
Two votes, I am amazed, HazelRah and Little Star, thank you both very very much.
Thanks, Ajid for the "almost vote".
Thanks, Victoria and Parson for the short listings.
Thanks, Victoria and Shyrka for reviews.

My vote went to D G Jones and not to take anything away from anyone, I had so many names on my list that I had to resort to the dart board method again, one vote is often not enough.

I notice that several members are under the weather as am I. I have another bout of pneumonia, taking some HD meds and not quite myself, right Bob?, Bob!

In closing I would like to say that a vote for Bob is a vote against Pneumonia! If however you are for pneumonia, well that's up to you.

A HAPPY EASTER to all.

Bob

Thanks for the Finalist ranking, SB! This month (prior to Juliana's bout of insanity, of course), I was saying to myself, "well, self, at least you'll have a mention from Starbeast." So I'll take it. :D

I know the cold of which you speak. I have it, too. With any luck, I'll get around to reading the stories again and voting tonight, since I've just had a long nap.

...and I did. Barely.

Robert Mackay -- Symphony From a New World
*Cascade -- A Man of God (or Vice Versa)*

Sigfrid von Shrink -- Discontent
willwallace -- Wasted Days and Wasted Nights
Alex Darion -- The Fate of Mankind
ClockworkBot -- Maiden Orbit
Juliana -- Whale Song
Bob Senior -- The Send-off
mosaix -- It's Not Child's Play
Parson -- The Hitchhikers
TJ -- ...That Hasn't Such People In't (my kind of title, that :D )

Time for another long nap.
