Discussion thread -- June 2016 75-word Writing Challenge

Ooh I know what I'm having for lunch. There's this fantastic Chinese place not that far from my office that does a thing called a "superbowl," which has crispy roast duck (that they roast on site and have hanging in the window for purchase and which sometimes still has feather remnants in it when it's served), bbq pork, won tons, bok choi, and noodles...it's some of the best stuff in the world. Salty as all get out though - I'm sure my blood pressure spikes every time I eat it - but damn if it isn't tasty.

Now I want to get Phoenix and Dragon for dinner tonight - thanks guys ... only because, I am not a big DUCK fan - but Chinese and fowl equals = well, in my little world, Phoenix and Dragon ... hmmm

(Parson strolls in) "Brother Bowler, couldn't we just sit down a little while and remember how your mom used to cuddle you as a baby. Why don't you just lie back here on this nice soft sofa. There you go, now hand me that heavy old ray gun, you'll feel so much better."

He asleep now everyone move before he wakes and goes on a rampage. (Parson hustles out the door.)

Anyway, traditional dictionaries (Collins online and the OED) give it as shape-shifter with a hyphen, but it seems contemporary usage (and probably particularly US) is moving towards its being spelt as a single word. Either way, it would count as one word for Challenge purposes.

Thank you!

awww look at little bowler asleep on the couch, round yellow face all mushed up against the cushions...

<replaces the raygun parson took with a squeaky duck toy>

Yawn... rubs eyes and wonders what magic Parson wields to such great effect.

Now where was I. Dinner, which is Luiglin based in garlic butter and blasted to a nice crispy (no relation to the Mighty Chrispy) piece of toast - or just toast. Now, where has he gone?

Well my ray-gun only shoots out sunbeams, so it doesn't make very good toast. I figured if bowler's going to make toast I should get him to shoot a whole loaf of it so I can have some too.
