Discussion thread -- June 2016 75-word Writing Challenge

Wruter – A supremely entertaining piece that touches on the idea of addiction as well as what easily available materials might lead to. There is a lesson to be learned and a smile to be had at the expense of cheap materials and the need to be loved.

Never seen the point of love spells myself, as long as the maid has a thick beard to grip and is as h… (Unfortunately due the undoubted delicate sensibilities of many of the Chronicles members, it has been felt that the rest of the dwarf’s outburst needed to be redacted.)

Cory Swanson – How strange but wonderful there is a feeling here of a parable, that there could be a lesson to be learned in having too much of one thing, but in kindness to others there is a form of reward that is beyond gold. (I do not believe this), but there is also the warning of taking more than has been offered.

Oh by the love of the higher lights, could you be any more disgusting. I’ll never be able to look at a dwarf of kipper in the same light again.

Heijan Xavier – A lovely bit of linguistic verbosity, that plays on the tongue with a delicious tingle. Touching on trading standards, workers’ rights, oppression you soon realise that there is a lot more here than originally meet the eye and all the better for it.

Yer just a cold fish that’s your problem, the way I hear the only time you lot get to have a damn good…. (Unfortunately due the undoubted delicate sensibilities of many of the Chronicles members, it has been felt that the rest of the dwarf’s outburst needed to be redacted.)

Perp – What on Earth? Is this guy having a go at the Elves and the Dwarves? The BLEEPING BLEEPER, I’m calling a truce for two seconds I’ll go low and kick him in the BEEPS, you go high and aim for the eyes.

Really you expect me to side with you after you depraved outbursts?

J5V – Very clever, manipulating an enemy into thinking that they are winning when really you are setting up for the biggest of falls. It takes foresight and self-belief and perhaps, the hint of immortality, to play the long game like this. Tactics of mistake, I do believe it is called.

You are really starting to BLEEP me off, do you know that you over-stretched under nourished, self-righteous goblin BLEEPER.

I wonder if Perp is being held against his will by Elfs and such like. They may even want a ransom or something, you never know.

Bowler1 rummage's through his pockets and pulls out a few coins.

I have 23p here, so it's Perp or half a bag of crisps?
Crisps, or my buddy Perp.
I'm thinking, but I'm also hungry.

Go for the crisps, hunger is a lot more desperate than any precarious position I might have found myself in. I doubt things will be that bad for me, they're almost certainly going to kill themselves rather than me.

Munch, crunch... while quickly wiping away crispy crumbs. I'd never leave you to suffer Perp to the sound of a plastic wrapper being buried deep in my pockets.

I'll organise a rescue, who's with me???

i'm with you bowler. i have £1.36, can i have two packets of salt and vinegar and some chewing gum please

EDIT: i'd like to add that the language in this forum has really gone downhill. far too many bleeps for my liking. and the dwarves in the mine at the end of my street (that's a song isn't it?) are really unhappy with the prejudiced attitude being shown towards their kind.

EDIT EDIT: is it dwarves or dwarfs?

I think it should be dwarfs, but Tolkien changed it to dwarves (and elves come to that) and it has slowly crept into modern use -so both are correct.

I do rather like dwarves, it is the elves that make him crazy.

Shyrka-Perhaps a plan stirs in the back of Sire’s mind.

hopewrites-A way to make money from something of value.

Wruter-Maybe love doesn’t happen at first sight.

Cory Swanson-Someone with multiple body parts ready to give one to those in need.

Heijan Xavier-Politics behind the company.

Perpetual Man-Let the enemy destroy their own world.

J5V-A questionable motive for this tale.

StilLearning-A tiny foe causes an exterminator to question this job.

LittleStar-How the birth of the industrial age came to be.

StilLearning -- A classic fantasy theme merges with concepts from modern physics into light comedy.

LittleStar -- The author creates a new myth for the machine age.

Eric Zeigler -- This dark fantasy offers an awe-inspiring vision of powerful magic.
