Discussion thread -- July 2016 75-word Writing Challenge

This Holy Place, @Cascade – A son goes to great lengths to ensure that the memory of his mother will live on in this moving tale of true devotion.

The Sound of Your Voice, @Old_Man_Steve2016 – When faced with nothing but the sound of their own thoughts, guilt will overwhelm even the most ardent criminal.

The Echo in Memory, @LittleStar – Two companions – lovers perhaps – return to the source of a shared experience that has defined them. What they endured together we cannot say, but the bond it forged is clear to see.

well, i finally chicked in with an eggstreme tail of punny yolks.

time (and the poll) will judge if it's eggcellent or just clucking bad.

Mr. Orange, I pass along a chocolate chip scone and a cup of tea to you. I have a feeling you may need the sugar.

The Screams, @Pwaa – The contents of a lost astronaut’s log reveals a desperate search for the source of maddening screams that threaten the writer’s sanity and lead them to their doom.

@Dave – The crew of an exploration vessel, returning after a voyage into deep space, discover that time has not been kind to their home.

Sorry Drof, you'll have to wear them.

*Starbeast leaps off the high dive, crashes into the water and flounders around wearing a "Daffy Duck" inner tube, "Darth Maul" snorkel mask, bright red swimming flippers and "Red Dwarf" Swim Trunks*

What SB said @Droflet. and no budgie smugglers either.

<Mr Orange frowns at Starbeast's highjinks and tries to avoid getting splashed, keep his balance on a rocking inflatable mattress, not spill his gin and tonic and maintain the chilled out cool dude look he's been trying to impress everyone at the party with for hours>

Budgie smugglers? LOL :ROFLMAO: That's a good one, Mr Orange. Hmm... I guess that goes for budgies carrying luggage too.

*Starbeast leaps off the high dive again shouting, "For the SHIRE!!!"* KER-SPLASH

*Hope surfaces in a modest silvery one-piece, long green wig dripping in her eyes*

Did you guys know there's a murmaid villa down there? They want to know what all the fuss up here is about, I told them we were doing echoes, they said she's a tramp and not to trust her. Can you believe that!?

Parson replies: Echos is not a tramp. But she's easily conned into doing whatever someone else says.

Parson dons his clerical collar, some black swim trunks and paddles over to see Hope's Mermaid villa. --- "Hope what is that game they are playing there? It seems to require rocks, a fish, and everyone's clothes."

Wruter sticks head out from locker room - "Hey, where's my clothes? I can't take the bus home like this. Well, I could but people would stare. And laugh." *adjusts swim trunks nervously*

Life in Echoville, @johnnyjet – What at first appears to be a straight-forward coming-of-age story takes a sinister, groundhog-like twist. No one leaves...

Old Man Hopkins, @Cory Swanson – This intriguing story of a frontier family hints at unconventional methods of procreation. Needs must, as they say.

Eggscrutiating, @Mr Orange – Repetition and word-play are rife in this unrepentantly silly and delightfully groan-worthy tale of a food poisoning outbreak at a poultry factory. Eggshellent.

That Black Cylinder on the Shelf by the Books, @Allen Teasdale – This story of intelligences that monitor our every word manages to be both a satirical commentary and an worrying insight into an all-too-plausible future.

Rescuing Han and Luke at Echo Base, @Starbeast – This story of snowbound high jinks takes a classic movie scene and twists it into something marvellously absurd. ‘Porkins’! Snnrk!
