Discussion thread -- July 2016 75-word Writing Challenge

Ok, hoping to be back for this one. To clarify, does it have to be sci-fi, fantasy and horror, or could it be just one (or two) of those?

I'm pretty sure just one (or more) of the three...
All the stories up so far are only one (or two) as far as I can tell, three seems rather ambitious!

*tries to imagine what three would be*

scary cybernetic echoes of fey in the post-apocalyptic hive-mind of humanity... I know I couldn't do it in 75 words or less...

Thanks HW. My vampire robo-bunny story will have to wait for another day.:D

Good to see you back PM. Just one will do. But if you fancy two, or even three - why not? :)

Anyway, I finally got an idea (who thought up this theme anyway!?), molded it into shape and got it down to 75. It's up.

Now for the 300.

Anyway, I finally got an idea.
I remember reading a "classic SF" story with a similar idea.
BTW I'm not accusing you of plagiarism, I just really like the idea of buildings/materials storing sounds, and now you have reminded me of the other story I can't think of the author. Can anyone help me? It may have been Arthur C Clarke. I think it was a short story. Of course, I might actually be imagining the whole thing. It might have been in an Iain M Banks book. I should probably move this to "Book Search."

I thought we banned you? How did you slip through my anti-mosaix firewall on the challenges?

mosaix -- An echo can reveal many things, as shown in this tense and suspenseful story of crime and detection.

HareBrain -- This chilling and imaginative combination of hard science fiction and horror reveals how an echo can hint of dark secrets.

No-one stays to chat… @StilLearning – This tale of dark caves and mysterious voices ends abruptly when the protagonist realises that it is not the echo of his own voice he can hear but something else entirely.

As it flashes before my eyes, @HazelRah – This disquieting and introspective piece examines the classic ‘life passing before your eyes’ myth and leaves us with lingering questions about our own perception.

Song of a Better Time, @The Big Peat – A deposed king, facing his doom, makes one final effort to bring peace to his land by channelling the lyrical echoes of an earlier, more tranquil time.

Think Before You Speak… @mosaix – The development of a sound-based crime scene investigation tool unmasks a killer who can hide no longer. No matter who he kills.

Master and Servant, @HareBrain – Two members of an unknown organisation discuss the results from an unusual tracking system but unbeknownst to his hapless colleague, one of them already knows what is coming.

Okay DG, just as long as you don't act like a baby about it.

And don't act like you had nothing to do with it either... :D

Bloody men, I bet Jo's not making excuses :p

You people are mean. That's the last time I try to invoke a sympathy vote from you lot.
