Sekrit 9?

That's the case here as well. We've been in a spectacularly rainy season since October. Wettest winter ever. Something like 10 sunny days between October and March.

It's called the Trailblazers. The Suns are in Phoenix. And there ends my knowledge of basketball.

I would like a humorous STAR WARS tale,

with the old, creepy Darth Sidious

and Darth Maul,

I've read through the list of suggestions (hmm, no Tudorpunk) but can't see anything that makes me think 'that would be interesting'. I generally go for some idea I have attempted, but which has fizzled out too fast, as I wrote it, and am invariably amazed about the directions Santa's little elves take it.

For example, I'd quite like 'cislunar delivery boy. Obvious how I'd write it, but…

*thinking way too hard*

OK, but the ideas I'm coming up with I want to write...
"Fleas are evil aliens trying to take over the world by doing mind control via binary jumping tricks. And the only way to stop them is with Kung Fu shopping moves that defy escalators as well as gravity -prompt from my dream last week.

Super hero: power of voice -makes unreal real, or emotional control haven't decided which.

Cartoons are drugs -prompt from conversation about my childhood...

Or

Coming of age story with "older" MC. As in someone who should have come of age a decade or three ago, but is just now getting around to it.

So just keep holding my place, and mark me undecided for the time being.

The problem with those zany requests is that some of us don't even want to write that kind of story, let alone able to.

I'll be honest, if I got such a wacky prompt I'd drop out.

When we started the SS it was a really valuable growth tool for me and I feel it's becoming just a superficial game now. I think it might work in the lounge or playroom as such but the effort involved in organising this and in writing our stories deserves a serious approach.

I think the problem is, it's secret and therefore the anonymous selection of story per participant can end up matching someone with a story prompt they just have no interest in engaging with.

It's one thing to want a wacky story and another to expect someone to write it for you.

Sorry to come across as a grumpy killjoy but it kept me from the last one and is keeping me from this, too.

Ahh... What if we were to make the list from all the prompts, and then each person could pick one they want to write? It would not result in everyone's getting the story they asked for, but if the person running it were to then send the stories to the requesters insofar as was possible, then at least some of us would. Probably not too far off from what usually happens when some people don't write and others write several and they all get shuffled out as well as possible.

Okay, no. I figured it out.

All I really want is a fable. And since coming up with a fable is hard enough, I leave everything else about it open to whomever authors it.

There. Not a zany request, not a overly specific request, something that leaves authors breathing space... Yet something that will be personal to me when it arrives. Every one is happy.
