NaNoWriMo 2017

Where you would normally. All you really do on the NaNo site (or all I do) is use it for the tally and the chart. Just write and stick your numbers in the NaNo site and keep going. You can join groups there and whatnot for support and all that.
:)

Okay, apparently, all I had to do was log out, then back in - now the info is right in front of me! :D

T'anks - an' fergive me stoopidity!

Am I in the Facebook Group? What's it called? This year I'm writing a biography and a story about the Dandy Lion (sort of Scarlet Pimpernel inspired).

I've been on the NaNo forum for a few years, it' s a huge help in so many ways, and the 'in it together' spirit is terrific. But my actual writing is all done by hand, with a pen, on paper.

I'm doing this. I don't know WHY I'm doing it. I have NO TIME. And I have no idea what I'm going to write. I pounded out 1,000 words at lunch, so I've got a few plot elements - a couple of scientists doing a VR experiment involving a cylinder and a vibrating black box, a disappointing sandwich, and an appearance by Death - but who even knows where THAT's going?

Anyway.

If it's a cheese sandwich, be sure to feed it to the dog.

I have been wanting to try my hand at this, but then November comes out of nowhere. I've done no prep and now its 2 days in and I'd be too far behind to start now, right?

Not at all, just be a pantser like many others. And depending on which timezone yr in you haven't missed much of day two at all (here in the UK it's only 1pm)

Hmm, this is true. It's only 9:00am here.

I completed day one with 1766 words, and have 700 this morning at 6AM in my breakfast session. Bring it on NaNo...

I also hit my goal on day 1 with 1,729, and I brought my laptop to work so I can hole up at a local restaurant at lunch & write another 1,000 or so. Might hit up a local write-in after work as well depending on the needs of my brood (husband & two foster kids - doubt they'll be too needy but never know).

I've made up for a sticky start yesterday and clocked up a over 3k today, bringing my total to just over 4k. Like many of us, time is always my problem. All I need is a Grandad emergency, or one of the kids being called in to work at short notice (both of which happened yesterday), and there's my writing time up the spout. Most of today's words were typed with the laptop propped on the car steering wheel*, and my boobs (accidentally operating the touchpad) sending the cursor into unexpected places. ;)

*Car was stationary at the time. :D

Might as well go for it and see what happens. I'm pantsing for once with this.

I have to say, having a target is incredibly liberating, as it allows me to not get bogged down.

I went to my writers's group yesterday and there were 16 people there! We also did a 15 minute word sprint, which was fun, I think I came in second with 415 words and someone else did about 500. I managed to punch out 3k yesterday. The winner of the day's Nano was a lady who sat next to me at the coffee shop; she started at midnight and wrote 10k words... on a PDA. I was also lured into participating by means of having a folder with cute stickers and fun spreadsheets inside.

So apparently I'm doing Nano. Sorry about my previous comments.
