Voting and the challenges

Good point about the ISP.

Maybe instead of a mass PM there's some sore of notification or sticky in the main section with a link to the relevant writing challenge?

Just a passing thought, but looking at this thread makes me lament the folks (the ones here, and others) who've come to Chrons, entered Challenges, voted in them (hopefully ;)) and were voted for, and who've since left the site. It reminds me again of how wonderful the Challenges are and of how many great people we've known who've participated in them.

Even R** Mc***** ?
:D :D

Well, you know... I wish R** M. could have been a bit different than they were. ;)

I have the weirdest memory for MOMENTS from old-old Challenges. I think that this person may have ever only entered one Challenge, and I seem to recall it being a weird story about pregnancy. God, why would I remember (or misremember?) that??

I just had an idea. What if we put the various voting polls into their own separate voting thread? I usually defer reading the stories until it is time to vote, but it is only by opening the thread that I become aware that the voting has opened. This would provide a quick visual reminder when a new poll is opened.

Do you mean "thread"?

After all:
  • every challenge poll is in its own thread;
  • one can't, as far as I know, have more than one poll in a thread.

You are correct. Thread is probably thread is the wrong word; maybe forum is the term I should be using.

What I am trying to suggest is a top level entry that would appear directly under Writing Forums and would be a peer-level entry to Writing Challenges and Workshops. From the top level screens, I would be able to see that a new voting poll was opened because it would show up as bolded.

I hope this is slightly clearer. Thanks for the chance to clarify.

This requires me to think and that hurts.
