Discussion -- November 2017 -- 75 Word Challenge

Thanks for the review, Victoria.
Bit of a one-note song from me. Struggled with ideas.

TJ, that pun is so...erm...venerable, Annie Oakley herself might have used it. Not saying I didn't chuckle, though. ;)

The Challenge is closed to new entries.

The poll will be long in a few minutes.

I hate the time change.

Didn't think I'd make it either. Only had the name of the ghost dancing girl and that Sitting Bull and Wild Bill were drinking mates to start with. But Chris scared me in with his call for entries and I gave it a bit of a go.

I was beginning to fear that I'd be the first person to choose a theme and genre that inspired fewer stories than the magic 42. But we've surpassed that, and I'm safe!

Oh, when I perused the list of the 'old reliables' who hadn't yet posted I was convinced we were going to pass.

Still a bit surprised Cul missed it, though.

I'm surprised I didn't -- I guess last month fell between our time change and yours, as it closed at six pm my time. I thought I had another hour, but googled GMT just to make sure.

Ursa major with wonderous wordplay!

TheDustyZebra with devious deception!

The carnival is over
The calliope sings no more
Farewell to tents and wagons
And wonders by the score
Back to our daylight hours
Where all things are what they seem
But tonight we'll go back to the circus
To share a spangled dream

My vote goes to mosaix for creating a complete story with a compelling theme and structure.

Well I can't sleep just yet, so I thought I'd do the vote early, and after careful rereadings here is the shortlist and vote winner for me.

@Ashleyne ~ Where The Ugly Things Are
@Luiglin ~ If there's something strange in your circus tent...
@nixie ~ All the fun of the fair
@mosaix ~ Poor Draw Leads To Boot Hill
@AstroZon ~ Fashion Fortunate
@Ursa major ~ Bill and Lill: the Night's Takings

But my vote has to go to:
@Teresa Edgerton ~ The Bargain (Out Past Joshua Tree)

And may I say, thanks to @Parson, @Shyrka and @Victoria Silverwolf for the reviews.

Thank you for the review, Victoria. :)

I know who I'm voting for, but creating a shortlist is proving difficult - there are so many great stories.

Wow, thank you Stable! I am so pleased. I wasn't expecting any votes. :)

Fun stories this month - a thorough read-through, and a vote will come in the next day or so.
