Discussion Thread -- APRIL 2020 -- 300-Worder Writing Challenge (#37)

There must have been something in that mirror picture because a lot of gothic fantasy came seeping out into the stories.

Short listed:
Retrospective by @Astro Pen for a serious melding of science fiction and historical fantasy.
Timepiece by @Peeling for a highly memorable story filled with possibilities.
You can’t always get.... by @dannymcg for a completely unexpected ending to a story with perfect Karma.
Killing It by @Luiglin for making interior design into treason.
Past, future, and present @elvet for a story which makes you wonder if the ending is a promise or a curse.
MIRROR MIRROR by @Culhwch for the best cracked fairy tale I've read in quite a while.
In the Eye of the Beholder by @BigJ for a very sweet parable of love.
On Reflection by @Ursa major for giving the magic to reflection that all could and must experience.

Voted for:
@dannymcg
@BigJ
@Ursa major

Well done all.

Thank you @Luiglin and @Karn's Return for the votes. I literally got up and danced around the house for joy! I think some people here know I'm brand new to sharing my work with people so these stories feel like a big risk for me and I am so grateful you saw something worth a vote in it. Thank you!!!

Now, my honorable mentions: (So hard!)
A Reflection of the Monster - @Abernovo - (Loved the creepy and the tension)
Retrospective - @Astro Pen - (I am always interested in a Romanov story - always!)
New Us - @Rafellin - (I appreciated the language and the second person perspective.)
Scenes Form a Bucharest Museum - @Cat's Cradle - (I like the concept of this story.)
Spectra - @Victoria Silverwolf - (Loved the ending - I think this was a big struggle for most. A lot of the endings felt rushed to me, but I thought your ending really served the story well.)
LUCY - @Jo Zebedee (Love the creep-factor!)

My votes:
Timepiece - @Peeling - This story was my favorite one. Almost all of us played with the concept of time and reflection, but I thought yours did it in the most unique way. I really enjoyed your story.
The Face in the Mirror - @Teresa Edgerton - Haunting! Well done.
Mirror Mirror - @Culhwch - A twist on a favorite. Well done.

For someone who claims to be new at sharing their work, you've done well with this one, Celine. :) Better than anything I've ever done...though I suppose that's not saying much at all.

Wow, that's such an impactful thing to say. Thank you, truly. I'm new to the site, but I'll keep an eye out for your work! Thank you for the encouragement! :giggle:

Excuse me, one second. It's lovely to see the encouragement for @Celine_Brace , and Karn is lovely, but he also needs a large slap for putting himself down. Consider it issued, to save @nixie the trouble. :)

Thanks for the mention, @Celine_Brace, and many thanks for the vote, @sule! Brightened my day. :)

I haven't been here as often as I like because of many things I have to deal with at this point in my life. However, writing for fun has helped.
We miss you, Starbeast. But do what you need to. We'll be here when you return.

Hey SB, I hope you're okay.

Hey PH

I'm okay. Seeing votes for my story, chatting with members here, along with a great conversation I had with a great friend. I'm fine.

I hope everyone here, plus your families and friends are all doing well amidst this world crisis. God be with us, everyone.

Stay awesome Abernovo. Bless your heart my friend.

Life can be a whirl wind at times, but there are moments and experiences remembered, I wouldn't trade for all the wealth on Earth.

*Re-edit - Gotta choose 3 votes. Hmm.....................

My short list consisted of Abernovo, Menolly, Parson, Teresa Edgerton, The Judge and Victoria Silverwolf - but it wasn't easy cutting it down that far. Far too many entries that deserved votes.

Thank you BT Jones for the mention and Victoria or the vote and, as every (recent challenge, thank you Parson and Victoria for the running commentaries,
