thanks to all those that mentioned my story and many humble thanks to @AMB , @Calliopenjo and @M. Robert Gibson for the votes

Just about managed to finish reading the entries and cast my vote. Working overtime at the moment so I've been a bit distracted.

My votes went to @Astro Pen, @Peeling, and @dannymcg. Fantastic work guys.

I enjoyed many of the entries, a decent amount of variety as always. I felt a day or so after posting my own story that I'd been a bit over ambitious... and it didn't pay off. But it was a bit of practice at trying to write the kind of story I plan on working towards, even if I have a long way to go as a writer before I can do it well enough. I've noticed these challenges end up accidentally forcing key pieces of info out of my stories as I edit them down, and without realising it the concepts and narratives suddenly make less sense. I will have to bear this in mind.

I did enjoy working on my first 300er though. Drawing from an image is a great way of working. I look forward to the next one.

Thank you :p

Just popping in as we're meant to be watering the garden while it's still light. No time for my usual formal shortlist, but votes went to Victoria, Cul and Big J; runners-up CC, Phyrebrat, Jo, mosaix, Chris p and Ursa.

As I feared, ripping off a poem only works if the poem is well-known, dammit. So out-from-the-shadows thanks for your literary education as well as your impeccable taste for the shortlistings Chris, elvet and Teresa, and mirrored tirra-lirra thanks for the wonderful votes Phyrebrat and CC!

I'm not sure I've read some many good entries in one Challenge before, so it's a miracle that the Ursa jury managed to come up with the following, which lists the stories in posting order within the categories:

Honourable Mentions:
  • Vive la Révolution! by BrenG
  • CORRESPONDENCE FROM THE NEW WORLD by Elvet
  • Detective Magazine #21 "One Dark Stormy Night" by Starbeast

Runners Up:
  • Timepiece by Peeling
  • LUCY by Jo Zebedee
  • The Chartwell Experiment by Daysman

Winners:
  • Between Tick and Tock. by Ian Fortytwo
  • Scenes From a Bucharest Museum by Cat's Cradle
  • MIRROR MIRROR by Culhwch
