Wow! A vote from Chrispy, and a mention from Phyrebrat! Thank you both!

Good day everyone. I didn’t enter a story this month, my time is so precious at the minute, and unless I have a story jump out at me, my brain is better spent on the WIP... alas, a story did jump out at me just a few days ago, but that’s just the way of things sometimes.

Anyway, I have read and enjoyed all the entries, and come up with a shortlist and votes.

Mentions for
AstroPen
Victoria
BigJ
Starbeast

With my votes going to
CC
AMB
Elvet

And I ll give a special mention to @BT Jones for a tale set in the IoM. I was born there, and had I not left 20 years ago, I likely would have gone to Castle Rushen high school.
The three legged coin got me thinking, but I didn’t know what was written on them so I carried on. And you mentioned Castle Rushen, but still I thought it must be coincidence, after all no one knows the IoM, it’s so teeny.
So it’s nice to see my homeland brought to life in word (y)

Thanks @LittleStar. I've never actually been there (FRAUD!!!!!). It's just a place I happened to pick because of what I wanted the story to be. Google is such a good substitute for actually going somewhere. Of course, at the same time, it's also NO substitute for actually going somewhere.

I guess if we all had to actually go to these places to be permitted to write about them, there are probably quite a few places in the world that would never get a mention (Murmansk, for instance)!

You'll soon realise Karn regularly needs a slap.

Now, now, Nixie, I'm nothing if not honest about things, is all. Write for one's own enjoyment, for it is truly a lonely activity that for most, and I do believe myself included, will not otherwise pay off in time.

That and I really can't compete with anyone on this site, that was made abundantly clear the first couple weeks I had originally joined, back then...

Well, maybe I do need slaps, I don't know...but I really don't see my own work as anything worth attention, outside these challenges. There's reasons I don't ever post any of my work here... XD

I think your story in this 300 worder is very good, @Karn's Return . A vote-contender, for me.

Apologies that I haven't voted, or sent out 'Thanks!' yet. It's been a rough May for my wife and I, with the loss of an aunt, and a pet kitty. But I hope to pull it together in time to vote.

@Starbeast, I hope you are okay, buddy. CC
My condolences CC.

Here are my votes and likes:

+++ @Astro Pen - Retrospective
+++ @Cat's Cradle - Scenese from a Bucharest Museum
+++ @Victoria Silverwolf - Spectra
++ @Peeling - Timepiece
++ @dannymcg - You can't always get... (isn't karma a bitch?)
++ @mosaix - When Can You Start?
+ @Karn's Return - Late For Tea
+ @Peter V - A Tale of Two Sisters
+ @Abernovo - A Reflection of the Monster.

Unfortunately the covid crisis put our business on hold, which was a perfect opportunity for the IT department to shovel the dirt out of the servers. I could not focus enough to come up with an idea and my muse was no were to be found.

I
Honest there. A lot of my stuff is really...yeah...

Well, if you change your mind and decide to post for feedback I'm sure we would all be happy to read it! We are always our own harshest critics.

Sometimes I have to force myself to keep writing through my own dry heaving at the terrible nonsense I am writing, but editing is the the magic pixy dust that makes it all come together. Some of my stuff that I am now most proud of would still be utter crap to this day if I hadn't sent it out to other people for help. :ROFLMAO: It's the most terrifying thing for me to send/post my work but I am always glad I did, even when the feedback is negative, because it always leads to a better version of a scene or a smaller piece. Anyway, blah blah blah, I'm sure I'm not saying anything you don't already know. We support you! (y)

Well done, everyone - terrific stories. Big thanks to ChrisG for a photo that inspired so many unique tales.

Best of luck to all in the voting, the rest of the way. Thank you, nixie, for the kind words, CC

Luckily for me there were a standout three

Cats Cradle Despite a slight concern about introducing "schlooping" to an unprepared world.
Victoria Silverwolf That's my kind of imagination.
AMB Resolution - yet without answers.

Hi Cat's. My condolences to you and yours my friend. It's been a rough few years for me as well. But I'm doing my best to keep my sunny-side up.

Thanks again for the mentions. I'll be back with a list hopefully soon.
