Discussion Thread -- May 2021-- 75 Word Story Challenge

@bedyak .... Bosses Right?! .... Translations are good, but shared pain crosses every language barrier.

@emrosenagel .... Life and death .... Word use can tell us a lot more about world view than one would think at first.

@G.T. .... Man's Best Friend .... I'm not sure we are ready to hear what Man's Best Friend has to say, or plans to do.

@nixie .... Some Things Should Be Left Buried ....
Ekkk! Quick get the shovel! Some things really should be left buried.

@AlekseiVashchenko .... "Thank you for entrusting us with last moments of your life." .... Words have limits and sometimes our experiences find those limits.

@JS Wiig .... Unanswerable Questions .... Humanity must often find peace in harmony with life's struggles.

@Guanazee .... Prompt Concord .... Sometimes understanding happens at the level of shared diversion.

@Luiglin ..... Close your mouth and open up your heart .... vegetation, communication, and consideration are in a strange mastication paradox.

@therapist .... Can you hear the drums? .... In some sense every communication is more than understanding; it's also life and death.

nixie: Achieving a goal can be as disappointing as failing to achieve it.

AlekseiVashchenko: Sometimes a final gesture is futile.

JS Wiig: Accepting one's limitations can be the beginning of wisdom.

Guanazee: Understanding does not always require a common background.

Luiglin: Music can serve as the universal language.

@Marvin ..... Tower of Babel 2.0 .... Virtual arrogance leads to virtual comeuppance.

Can someone slap whoever came up with this challenge, I'm completely blank.

The curse of the nominee. I had the same issue; you spend more time thinking about what will be popular, fun and challenging for others and not how you yourself may tackle it. Which I think is how it should be.

Have we ever had anyone who has won after nominating the genre/theme?

Think @TheDustyZebra has.

Yes had a quick check July/ August 2018. Unusual a lot of winners seldom get a vote in the next challenge.

I don't remember that! Lazy person asks, what was the theme?

Sorry @mosaix has as well. He's not happy with winning the most challenges he has to join the elite club of a double win.

Sorry should have a smiley but some reason they won't work.

Check if you've toggled the BB code in your posting box -- if you have, the brackets [ ] will be the only dark thing in the top bar, over on the right side.

You won July 2018 theme Twist; genre open, you then gave us The Book; genre science fiction/ fantasy.
You set the September challenge, Shot; genre Spy Fiction.
Mosaix won and set the next challenge, Legacy; genre science fiction/ fantasy that he went on and won.

Wow, we rocked the summer/fall of 2018, @mosaix! Is it time for a repeat? :D

@paranoid marvin .... Fact or Fiction? .... P.M. makes me rub my chin and say, Hmm, is that how it happened?

@Iwroteathing .... The Magician's Remission .... Understanding the words is one thing, comprehending their meaning is quite another.

@Bren G .... The Course of Things .... A good education will let you read the sign that points the way to your destiny.

Marvin: Ambition is often laid low by circumstances.

paranoid marvin: One can never tell from where an author's inspiration might come.

Iwroteathing: Often the letter of the law violates the spirit.

Bren G: Illiteracy is a very serious handicap.

Daysman: When all else fails, choose a course of action at random.

TheEndIsNigh: If you can't change circumstances, face them as bravely as you can.

Starbeast: Correct pronunciation is critical for accurate communication.

reddishbird: Words are not always necessary for revealing what we feel.

Dan Jones: Few of us are brave enough to sacrifice ourselves for others.
