Discussion Thread -- May 2021-- 75 Word Story Challenge

@Ian Fortytwo .... Don't respond then ..... A perfect story to demonstrate the meaning of 1 Cor. 14:8: "if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?"

Yes we're on to the magic page 3 and over 40 entries. Would be great to see it get to 50 this month.

Well, I've gone for unintelligible!

The Judicial Helpmeet managed the first six words, asked what the seventh meant, carried on for another dozen then pronounced a verdict of "Bloody hell!" which feedback probably can't be improved upon. Good luck anyone trying to get to the end of the first paragraph.

A fair post, Dan.
Personally, I feel terrible that I am not as active in the discussion threads as I once was - I feel as though I am letting the Challenges down. I just don't have it in me at the moment to be more active... just been a really hard year+, with COVID affecting life so dramatically for everyone, and losing pets.

A huge thanks to Victoria Silverwolf and Parson for keeping the lights on, with their wonderful reviews. I read them all, and I bet many others do, as well. I'm always very happy to read the new stories, and to vote... just to participate in some way. The Challenges are a lifeline for me to a larger world, both of people, and imagination. So I'm here, a lot of us are even if we're a bit quiet now, and I hope once things are more normalized to be able to participate more than I do now. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who enters, to those who take the time to write reviews, and to those who read and vote; and Dan, very nice to have you back in the Challenges. :)

Great post, CC, and thanks. It's not just you, it definitely is generally quieter on the discussion threads these days. Before April's challenge I hadn't posted a 75-worder entry since August 2017! It surprised me that it had been that long, but I've written two fairly meaty novels in that period, and I'm having a bit of a break from novel writing, so it felt like a good time to re-engage with the challenges.

I think you're right that Covid has just drained the life out of a lot of things this past year. Hopefully seeing people in real life again will put a bit of a spark back into the boards as well.

Oy, Dan, it doesn't seem possible it's been so long! The novels come first, of course... and we've at least been able to spend time with Sir Reginald Rigmarole in the intervening years! ;)

Serendipity , I really liked your story and Bren G almost got my vote with a great moment from the life of Conan. But Starbeast, I laughed out loud at your little tale , and you get my vote this month.

Thanks for the shortlisting Wayne Mack! (y)
