Whoa, there's a Turnip for the books -chuffed with that (y)

Very hard to choose this time around.

Really liked:

@M. Robert Gibson Going Loopy - Thought it'd be a class to have anthropomorphized sections of code living in fear of, and running into infinity loops (sort of like the Bandersnatch Black Mirror thing) ...but to attempt to do it in 75 words! Respect.

@SRDFrench Just Press Repeat - we had more or less the same idea, but I thought this made a better fist of it (and got there first)

Vote:

@chrispenycate The Long way round - I thought it was a well written perfectly rounded ('scuse the pun) 75 worder.

Thanks all for all the stories, plenty of class concepts to digest. Fair play @Christine Wheelwright for the great theme -and the reviewers ...ye know who ye are(y)

Just read that Hubble has determined that the universe is expanding considerably faster than originally thought. We can definitely look forward to a long cold infinity then.

mosaix: Infinite regret in this tale of futility.

Parson: Infinite wisdom in this account of loss.

M. Robert Gibson: Infinite wit in this playful look at technology.

DF17: Infinite compassion in this science fiction story of war and peace.

Lex E. Darion: Infinite awe in this mixture of science and mysticism.

Elckerlyc: Infinite amusement in this post-modern jape.

therapist: Infinite food for thought in this mathematical conundrum.

reiver33: Infinite possibilities in this open-ended work.

Ursa major: Infinite suspense in this look at revenge.

Vote to viraltwit with a very close second place to reiver33.

Many many thanks to @BT Jones and @Daysman for the listings.
Even more thanks to @therapist for granting me joint runner up status.
These would have been more than enough, so it was truly wonderful to see a vote as well. THANK YOU @nixie.

This month's voting pattern is interesting - all of eighteen votes cast so far for fourteen stories, with four having two votes each. Plenty of time for a story with no votes as yet to overtake everyone and be crowned May Queen (or similar).

I voted for @OuttaInc 's "Upon Reflection". A wonderful story and I'm really surprised it hasn't swept the field.

Joint Runners Up:
@Starbeast 's "Cat-Man". I think it was the anchovy soda that did it. The story was good in itself but the soda took it into bizarre territory.
@jd73 's "Bunny Head". All too easy to imagine. Worrying.

Others that caught my eye for one reason or another, in no sensible order:
@BT Jones
@DF17
@Wayne Mack
@Victoria Silverwolf
@Astro Pen
@JS Wiig
@Bramandin

Shortlist:
Starburst Wishes by Bren G
Beyond the End by Wayne Mack
The Infinite Room Hotel by therapist
Beginnings by reiver33

Vote:
The Space Between by Luiglin

10 pm here in Iowa. Lots of stuff I still would like to do tonight (retired so the have to is at a minimum) but I will take what might be last chance and vote.

Shortlisted -- Because

The Wormhole by @THX1138 because it gave me the feeling of infinite inevitability with ever increasing despair.
Saved by @Astro Pen because it gave me the same headache I got in Philosophy class.
A Multiverse of Concurrent Moments… by @Cat's Cradle because of its emotional grasp of the infinity of choices.
Infinity Loop by @Bowler1 because it gives a taste of infinity experienced but despaired because others live in time.
The Infinite Room Hotel by @therapist because it was a new and clever way to look at infinity.

This is a tough nut to crack. There's such a bizarre variety of stories, you might even say that infinity is involved.

In the end I voted for Infinity Loop by @Bowler1.

I voted for Cat's Cradle. I also infinitely enjoyed countless others, of which Mosaix and Ursa major appropriately formed the largest constellations.

My list is Jojnnyjet, Christine Wheelwright, Paranoid Marvin, Parson and Mosaix.
I had to think and decide between Parson and Mosaix, but with Mosaix edging it.

The good news is that my plan to lynch Parson can be put on the back burner (every pun intended), and my well prepared wooden steak and kindling can serve as a mild warning to those who have yet to vote. It's great to have a vote and a big thanks to Parson, but it does complicate my pitchfork plans. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe pitchforks are yesterdays tool of choice and maybe I should fall back on my trusted RAY GUNS, which everyone likes, and they look so good on me.

Bowler1 leaves the thread muttering to himself about mobs and failure, while giving the biscuit barrel a good kick on his way out.

Parson breaths a sigh of temporary relief as he sees @Bowler1 leaving the area. Checks for his Bible and his flame thrower in case Parson has to change to Arson to protect himself. But then he allows himself a smile. Runner-up is good? No?

Runner-up is good? No?
Runner up is very good, and if only we were allow two votes (said shouting, for any passing MOD to hear). You should quite rightly be very happy and smug with yourself, I really liked your entry this month.

You might need your bible, because if you call that little thing a flame thrower then you haven't seen my flame thrower.
Bowler1's robotic flame thrower trundles on to the thread, the size of a house, not including the fuel tanks or matches to get the thing going.
Smiling as only Bowler1 can when weapons are being discussed - say hello to my little friend!
