February / March 100 Word Anonymous Challenge 2024 Discussion

For the guessing game, here is a list of the authors along with the number of stories they wrote:

Here is the complete list of stories and authors. Do not open this spoiler if you want to play the guessing game.

For newer members who don't know what this is about, you are invited to guess which author wrote which story. I will reply with how many guesses you got right.
Eventually, someone will guess all the entries correctly, and the game will end.
(The game can also end if everyone gets too bored to continue guessing. :) )

And I think @THX1138 wrote these 11 stories:

A Quiet Rendezvous
Saved By the Blind
Cotton
In Death I Will Not Part
Seek and Hide
The Spirits on the Moor

@Elckerlyc Close good friend!
I wrote:

A Quiet Rendezvous
(A nice idea)
Saved By the Blind
In Death I Will Not Part
The Spirits on the Moor
(A nice Idea based on an Isley Whisky documentary, and hastily written.)

I really pushed myself and just had fun this time, good, bad and nice ideas...
Now, for the rest of me tales... Listen, I hear them calling on the Moor...;)

@THX1138 . I'm afraid you're wrong on both counts.

@Elckerlyc You have 5 correct. The rest are not.
I note that @Elckerlyc made 11 guesses for a person who has written only 9 stories, which is a bit tricksy.

I'm going to add a new rule. @elvet can make it permanent next time, or drop it, if she wishes, but for this go it's in.

It will also address the problem that I've always seen, where you can guess an author's stories 1 by 1.

So from now on, in any one attempt, I will only accept the same number of guesses for any given author, as they have written.
So for THX1138's stories you must make 9 guesses. For Guttersnipe 3 etc.

Thus Elckerlyc would need to know which 5 he got right, which is not something I'm going to tell him. In his second guess, it may be that he drops a story that is actually correct in his new list of 9.

Sorry about that. I assumed (without checking) that THX1138 had written 11 stories, mixing things up with the number of stories AnRoinnUltra wrote. It was not my intention to be 'tricksy'.
All the same, I'm happy with my correct. ;)

No problem. It's only a game.

I'll try and apply my new rule from now on though. So please always guess the number of stories that the author has written, even if we know that 5 of the 9 guesses of your entries will be pretty definitely correct. :LOL:
