DISCUSSION THREAD -- 300 Word Writing Challenge #55 (October 2024)

It reminds me a bit of where I’m staying. But I’m still at a loss for ideas. Maybe when sis and I go diving tomorrow I’ll get some ideas.

Fwwwar fwaar fwwaaar

The first thing I thought when I saw the (person?) in the picture was your previous avatar!

I've also lost my comment for @Aethel

@Aethel .... Síðasta .... This is a story that has the feel of an ancient myth of palatable power.

@AnRoinnUltra .... The Spacelord of Bearnagaofa .... This is a story that makes me doubt that there really is any higher intelligence in the universe.

@Starbeast .... Blade Runner 2166 .... This is a story which is filled with life and love and purpose and peace and much better than the original.

@Luiglin .... The Wasteland .... This is a story that leads us on a successful chase and leaves us wondering how we got hare.

I had an instant idea for my 300 entry as soon as I saw the picture. But can I get it to work? No!

Unfortunately I can't get the original idea out of my head and I'm finding it impossible to come up with anything new. I've got a week left (we're away as from the 27th) and I'm getting a bit desperate.
I'm in! We're away for a week tomorrow and, necessity being the mother of invention, I finally managed to kick my original idea to one side and come up with something else.

BTW Just seen @Luiglin's entry. :ROFLMAO: I hope that doesn't count as a review as I don't have time to read the other entries until I come back.

@mosaix .... A Friend In Need… .... This is a story that just creeps me out. It would make a good Hitchcock show.

@johnnyjet .... One Foggy Night .... This is a story with an interesting premise and a very surprising last line.

SEKRIT SANTA IS BACK!

Hi folks! Have you been nice this year? Or have you been very, very naughty? AnRoinnUltra, put that down!

Well, that's the formalities over and done with. Regardless of your position on the naughty/nice spectrum, you are cordially invited to take part in this year's Sekrit Santa, where people exchange anonymous stories rather than gifts. It's great fun, and it's best when lots of people take part. Oldtimers and newbies, welcome one and all. Only you'd better get a move on, because the clock is ticking. We're starting rather late this year!

If you would like to take part, or you just want to know more, please click on this link:

IT’S TIME FOR SEKRIT SANTA 24!

And then sign up. All of you!!

@Elckerlyc .... Ignis Fatuus .... A story which shows the inexorable persistence of some humans to dance to their own drummer.

@chrispenycate .... At the end of the tunnel .... A story which marries the natural with the human yearning and striving for the supernatural.

@Parson Look into the light - A positive story about growing better. I liked the simple nature of it.
@Elckerlyc Ignis Fatuus - A dark tale about light in a desolate world. A mystery and a nice horror without gore. (I had to look up Ignis Fatuus)
@chrispenycate The end of the tunnel - A slice of ancient tradition with some nice descriptive passages

I'm in.

Usually I'm scratching around for a story on the last day of a Challenge, tempers getting more and more fraught as the hours drag by and I've got nothing. This time, though, the muse dropped the first line into my ear a week ahead of time, and the idea of a mist jogged my memory of early morning journeys to work drving across the New Forest some years ago.

After that the story dropped into place, though -- as ever -- well over word count so I've spent hours bringing it down to the 300 and hoping I've not lost the plot in so doing!
