I have that edition of Aldiss, and I picked ip that edition of van Vogt in my early teens. I teally like The Book of Ptath, bonkers as it is.

Ok one more haul from the charity shop. The Larry Niven/Barnes book is book 2 in a series. I didn't know that till I checked on FF later. Oh well...

I'm pretty sure that Tim White? cover top left of my post is a second hand reuse too. (An old UK reprint of a Cap Kennedy novel?.... Except the series was renamed Agents of FATE- I think. I'll go dig through the relevent piles when I get home from work.)

I doubt Perry Rhodan will be any better in French. It isn't all that great in German. Or the original Klingon.

I asked my Copilot AI if Elleston Trevor ever wrote science fiction and it said no. He wrote in other genres but not sf. Then I asked if his novel The Theta Syndrome could be considered sf and it said, “Certainly.” I guess Damon Knight was right, science fiction is whatever you point your finger at and say, “That’s science fiction.” Arrived in the mail a few minutes ago:
