Not Happy

I am very pleased whith what I have read, I lack a few pages and will finish them tonight. I do feel there is something missing. I want to know what is going on with the other PoV's. Maybe Martin felt pressure from all sides. Publisher, fans, getting the whole story out the way he wanted. He may have decided to compromise and get half of the story out and was happy (of course he knows what was cut out, what will happen). Maybe leaving some things out we may be in for a big surprise in the next book. Something that will make you say to yourself, why didn't I see that. Maybe he he said to himself "Damned if I do, Damned if I don't"

Regarding Jon's possible future romantic links to Sansa and Arya... someone (Cssndra in another thread, iirc) commented that if R+L=J, then Jon is a cousin to the girls, not a brother.

I started re-reading AFFC and something bothered me about Cersei's memories of Maggy. Why did we not hear of it before? (Of course, we did not have Cersei's POV to give us the info.) Everyone that meets Sansa thinks she's beautiful, so Cersei's POV should probably give us her smugness of having gotten rid of Sansa. Cersei should have married Joff and Tommen off to Brienne to avoid the curse.

Exactly. Cersei was the only one who knew about Maggy who is present in the storyline. One girl is dead, and the other has not been introduced to us until now. Maggy has been mentioned before, however. She is Robb's wife's grandmother or great-grandmother.

********SPOILERS******

Ok, I have finally finished Feast. Over all I am very happy with the book. There are certain things that I did not like be it what heppened to a character, ie Arya going blind. Of course there were only two of her PoV's (which was also a let down), but it may not be permanent. I loved watching Cersei's downward spiral. I do think she knew she was opening Pandora's box when she lifted the law so the Holy are armed and can pass judgement. I also think Victorian will be interesting in the future. Will Jamie come to rescue Cersei? Will Cersei rat on Jamie about their children to the Sparrows? Anyway, I am pleased with the story. I do wish some other Pov's were in there.

All the sparrows have to do is dig up Gendry. Brienne now knows, and whatever state she's in - if she turned against Jamie while being hung, she might sing the tune to RottedCat, who could use that information to extract her revenge against the Lannisters.

Cssndra are you saying Cat could go to the Sparrows? Well I guess some of her outlaws could, but if the Sparrows find out about them working for a dead lady, I do not think it will be pretty.

Hehehe.

-----

Thoros of Myr: Cersei's children are not the offspring of the late king robert!

High septon: How know you this?

Thoros of Myr: brienne of tart told my mistress Catelyn Stark!

High Septon: O.K.... So let me get this straight: A Woman wanted for regicide told a Woman whose dead who then sent a heathen to inform us of this, yes?

Thoros: Ermmm, yes, well, i suppose you could see it that way, yes.

High Septon: Hmmmm.... Guards!

----

:D

Not directly but something tells me UnCat has a lot fewer scruples than LiveCat. She could again tax Brienne with another quest; who knows, Brienne might turn holy roller on us?

Cat just wants vengeance. If she was thinking, she would have heard Brienne out. Let her go take up her quest again. Of course I understand that Brienne was screaming Jamie's name out, and that didn't look good.

::scratchin head::...Oh!...::Light bulb comes on::.. I see what you are saying. Yes she is still a maid..::chuckling::

I mean, if I were going to...have my neck stretched, it wouldn't be over another case of unrequited love :)

PS - How could Baelish arrange Harry the Heir's marriage to Alayne? He must've paid the Waynwoods with something costly or he let them in on Alayne's identity. I don't think the heir to the Vale would marry the ******* girl of a hedge noble, no matter how beautiful she is.

It's not beauty that is attracting the Waynewoods- it's the dowry that they could expect to come along with the Lord Protector of the Vale's cherished only daughter. *******-born or no, Sansa would come with a fat purse. And, as the Lord Protector's daughter, it is likely that she will receive a large inheritance. In addition, as Littlefinger said it best: "The Waynewoods are very old and very proud, but not as rich as one might think, as I discovered when I began buying up their debt."

AU, by your thinking then the Waynwoods would want Alayne to marry Harry asap, before Baelish fathers a legitimate heir. Okay.

Folks, isn't the Maid of Tart an oxymoron?

Now I just have to share this... there's this Chinese Buffet where my friends and I sometimes go. There is a large neon sign, Mongolion BBQ... now that's a big lion. And the restaurant also boasts a placard, Wanton Soup... it must be because it has this flip top lid for easy access.

Now don't flame me... I am Chinese. Well, I'm a quarter anyway and I can get by in Mandarin. The point is that we all slip (Freudian or not), so just enjoy it.

Question, if ADWD is at the same time as this book why are the Dragons still just stories from sailors? It feels like there should be more to this book. I agree with Ser Cranky in that I felt like it was just a taste of a book. Still liked it and there is now way GRRM is worried about money rather than quality. Just don't see how ADWD can start and end at the same time as this book. How can he finish these POVs in two books?

toydle: ADWD will cover the period AFFC covers at least. Depending how things go, George says he may extend that to cover several months after AFFC ends as well, possibly including one or two chapters from 'key' POVS in AFFC. But, as I say, it all depends.

The Dragons are still just stories from sailors, etc. because all of the POVs represented are in far-off places in the world, and nowhere near the dragons. In the next book, those POVs that we have missed, such as Dany's and Tyrion's, will be closer to the dragons. Likewise, Jon and Bran's POVs will take us to the Wall and beyond, thus completing the story for this specific timeline.
