The Dragon Has Three Heads

Actually the defining feature of the sand snakes is not that they have the same colour eyes as the viper, but they show the same character.

My mistake, insert "physical" before trait. I'm primarily concerned with physicality here being as the issue at hand is Alleras's lineage. If Aegon was raised as the Viper's own from birth one would assume that he would have their aggressive character.

Strangely Alleras shows no signs of this besides prowess with a bow.

Isn't it said that Alleras is a very dark but comely youth? Why would have Aegon have such dark skin and features?

I have found precedent in Martin's writings for this. Make note of the following passage from "The Hedge Knight".

"Of Prince Maekar he saw no sign, but he recognized Prince Baelor at Lord Ashford's side. Sunlight flashed golden off the shoulder clasp that held his cloak and the slim coronet about his temples, but otherwise he dressed far more simply than most of the other lords. He does not look a Targaryen in truth, with that dark hair. Dunk said as much to Egg.
'It's said he favors his mother,' the boy reminded him.'She was a Dornish princess.'"

Kind of odd to have specific precedent outlining a Dornish Princess's genetic traits dominating Targaryen traits in a prince of Targ/Dornish descent.

Nate, you've got to quit posting on days that I'm drinking... I'm having enough trouble reading English, let alone following your theory.

Allow me to simplify it...
Sarella and Alleras are fake identities of a surviving Aegon.

a LARGE potential problem:
Did you ready Dany's vision of her brother? In it, the little Aegon looks an Aegon.

I admit there's a large problem if Dany saw in a prophecy/dreamed a young Aegon with Silver-Gold hair and purple eyes. Weirwood, do you have the pg. number that this occurs on?

Okay, never mind. Her vision is just of an infant without any distinguishing characteristics. I do remember someone describing Rhaenys at some point in the series.

I don't think your theory is plausible at all because Sarella's mother was from the Summer Isles. When they say she's dark they mean dark. Such as could not be explained by a Dornish mother, so whether she is Alleras or not, she couldn't be the same person as Aegon, who would be lucky to get brown hair to go with his ivory skin and purple eyes.

ACoK pg 527 (it's an old hardcover edition)

Viserys, was her first thought the next time she paused, but a second glance told her otherwise. The man had her brother's hair, but he was taller, and his eyes were a dark indigo rather then lilac. "Aegon," he said to a woman nursing a newborn babe in a great wooden bed. "What better name for a king?"

"Will you make a song for him?" the woman asked.

"He has a song," the man replied, "He is the prince who was promised, and his is the song of ice and fire." He looked up when he said it and his eyes met Dany's, and it seemed as if he saw her standing there beyond the door. "There must be one more," he said, though whether he was speaking to her or the woman in the bed she could not say. "The dragon has three heads." He went to the window seat, picked up a harp, and ran his fingers lightly over its silver strings. Sweet sadness filled the room as man and wife and babe faded like the morning mist, only the music lingering to speed her on her way.

So there's nothing there one way or the other about what the baby looks like. It does seem to me though that if Alleras/Sarella were Aegon s/he would have at least a touch of the Targ look, maybe not the whole thing, some sort of physical hint of it.

Sphinx can not be aegon - "his father was dornishman, his mother a black skinned summer islander. his own skin was DARK AS TEAK" (AFFC)

I was prepared to fight the fact that teak is a notably dark color, but I have done my research and must admit a person who is 'teak' color could easily be considered very dark skinned. hmmm...

Hagar throws something new into the mix I hadn't considered so here is some other food for thought:

now, QUENTYN MARTELL could actually be Aegon. He has dornish looks after his mother. he was saved and sent as a foster child to yronwood ("the prince had been fostered by lord Yronwood from a tender age" - AFFC) while some other baby was killed instead, presumably a Dayne, who actually DO look like targaryens, with purple eyes and silver hair. furthermore, the dayne baby might have been Ashara Dayne's and eddard stark's son, which is why ashara threw herself from the tower.

I truly believe that Ned Stark did NOT father a ******* with Ashara Dayne, but other than that snippet this quote had me thinking...

Teak is not "a notable dark colour". It can be quite dark and it can be quite pale, depending on what's done to it (like most other woods).

Wiki's article (Teak - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) on the wood has this sentence (I know, Wiki is not the most reliable source):
The yellowish brown timber with good grains and texture from teak trunk is used in the manufacture of outdoor furniture, boat decks, and other articles where weather resistance is desired.
(my bolding)

At the end of that article, there's this link to an image of the wood:

Has there ever been a description of Elia? I know she was described as somewhat frail and small, but anything about skin color/hair color/etc.?

Nate-

Now that I've had the chance to read back through the 20 pages(!!!) of thread here and get a better handle on the Aegon=Alleras=Sarella theory and aside from the issue with how they look physically, who in your theory knows the truth about Aegon?

Oberyn must have right? Did Doran know too? He can't have right, or else he wouldn't be focusing so much of his energy on Dany/Viserys... If Aegon is still alive somewhere he's got the best claim to iron throne (assuming Dany with her dragons and her army would stand aside).

It's hard for me to see how Elia could have switched baby Egg without Varys at least having an inkling of what was going on. But he's someone else who seems to be focusing his energy on Aerys younger kids rather Rheagar's progeny...

I remain convinced that Martin is being cagey about Aegon because someone (either Aurane Waters, or somebody from the Golden Company) is going to pretend to be Dany's nephew and rightful heir. That also explains the mummer's dargon part of Quaithe's prophecy from the spoiler chapter...

I haven't posted on here in so long. Wow, we are now on an Aegon=Sarellas/Alleras theory? I have been missing out. I'm still waiting for ADWD, but I better read up on these threads so by the time it comes out, I haven't forgotten all thse important details.

Aurane Waters = third head of the dragon?
Anyone? Anyone?

Lets hear what you think!

Kobked-

I think Aurane wants to be the second head head and will be posing as Aegon to gain Dany's trust. I don't think it will end well for him...

Food for thought: forgive me if this has been discussed before.

The sphinx is the riddle not the riddler
The sphinx is described in AFFC on pg 677 as having a lion body, eagle wings, and tail of a serpent.

A Lannister, someone from the Vale, and a Targ?

HA. GRRM disguised the third head as a sniveling little turd that was still nursing at the age of 6. Robert Arryn will be he third head. If GRRM can pull that off he's a genius, but absoulutely no one could see that coming because there's no foundation for it as of right now
