The Valonqar

Agree Raven, however, Jaime has been practicing ALOT with Ilyn Payne to improve his remaining hand and arm. Should he make it strong enough, it could be sufficient for throttling sweet Cersei.

I don't see it really happening unless he sees her as a direct threat to Tommen (whom he seems to have a soft spot for and realizes Robert ignored and Cersei has attempted to make into another Joff) or his place in the Kingsguard, which he is taking very seriously these days.

I have visions of Jaime strangling Cersei with his "golden" hand. Now that magic is starting to get much more than a toe-hold on the world, I believe that Jaime's golden hand may actually become part of his body, and fully functional.

I also think that Ser Illyn will try to betray Jaime during one of their sparring sessions and attempt to kill him. But Jaime will choose this moment to reveal that he has use of his right hand and slay Ser Illyn.

Does anyone else have a similar feeling about this?

How? Even if magic is coming back, it takes years of study and sacrifice to make it happen. This is told to us by Jaqen, who was only casting a glamor. Who knows what it would take to animate a lump of metal.

You misunderstand... it's not that it's not strong enough, it's that it's not flexible enough. He reflects that he could smash Varys' teeth in with it, but not throttle him.

Valid question. The answer is: I don't know. It is just a feeling I get. Perhaps something will happen to Jaime to cause this, or perhaps someone else will cause this to happen for him.

However, given that the dead are now coming back to a somewhat coherent life (i.e. Dondarrion and Cat), I would think that this kind of magic is small potatoes.

One hand should be enough for a guy like Jaime to kill his sister. However, he may have some problems with that double chin of hers. ;)

Personally, I think Arya would get alot more satisfaction out of killing Cersei than Jaime would. I'm beginning to think that may be a moer likely scenario. Jaime killing Cersei may be either a great weight off his shoulders or haunt him for the rest of his days.

You're probably right that in the end, Tyrion may do her in.

Then there's Littlefinger who seems to have it in for Cersei. Can't imagine why...Just her orchestrating the death of the love of his life: Catelyn...

Fine, Tywin was the principle architect if that gruesome event, but nobody has really presented any argument why Littlefinger would have it in so much for Cersei. Does he just associate her with the Lannister in power and them being responsible for Cat's death?

P.S. I'd love to see him reunited with his long lost love. Wonder what he would think of her now. She would probably hang him too.

LF has no particular animus for Cersei that I can see: he even jokes about it in AFFC. It's just that he holds her in contempt.

I think it irritates him that someone with so much power could be so damn stupid and incompetent - afterall, he started out with so little and he's had to anticipate every possible option just to stay alive.

*shrugs* Well, I don't recall LF being irritated by Cersei - amused, yes, contemptuous, yes, pitying, almost, but never irritated particularly that I recall.

I have to find the quote in AFFC but he says something like: Cersei is going to get what's coming to her or what she deserves...To me, it just came across like he wanted or had a hand in her downfall.

Okay I must confess that i didn't know the meaning of valonquar.
But my money is on Jaime. And to back up my statement: I watch a lot of detective series (searching the murderer before he commited his crime is something new though:p ).

I can see Jaime doing it defending a woman. (younger and more beautiful than cersei;) ). I can almost taste the part where Jaime realises that after he killed his sister, the people will call him the queenslayer. Agh it's only speculation though

Here's a new twist on the Valonqar (well, not counting Cersei's on Tyrion when he was a newborn)...

Tommen is technically her son and nephew... could he in any way be called Valonqar? And could Myrcella be the new queen to dethrone Cersei?

She's put everything into her kids... I'd love to see them be her downfall.

Arya Underfoot suggested this on page 1 of this thread. This scenarion is certainly a possibility, especially if Tommen is forced to condem her to death after she broke the laws of the Gods. The newly armed and somewhat more influencial Faith will make sure Tommen respects these laws, even if it means putting his mother dearest to the sword. Now that would be poetic justice.

Wonder if Jaime would simply stand by and not intervene.

Good work, TK. Not even my original thoughts are original...

There are 3 theories:
a) Tryon is going to find Danny, ride a dragon, and slay his sister for Danny.

b) Jaime is going to kill Cersei .Possibly for Danny

c)Tywin probably had more then 3 children.......Cersei more then 2 brothers.

I think b)!

Cersei has an unknown and unnamed brother? Interesting. If Tyrion was 24 or so when AGOT started, then Tywin has had twenty-three years or so to get bastards. In sex, like everything else, Tywin was very discreet. If he had bastards, they'd be hidden well. And remember, Tywin disdained all commoners, bastards and lesser nobles... so I don't think he'd recognize any of these bastards. Plus, he'd never do anything to jeopardize the future of House Lannister. Personally, I think he'd had a plan to discharge Jaime from the Kingsguard so Jaime could inherit Casterly Rock... and barring that he'd have given it to Tommen (providing Tommen took the name Lannister) or Lancel.

So if there is an unknown Valonqar out there, we'll just have to wait for him to be revealed.

Wild guesses: Hodor, Podrick Payne, Jon Snow, and Darkstar.

Worst guesses ever.

Hodor lived his whole life in the North, when did Tywin Lannister ever come that way, Darkstar is a Dornian, and the Dornish dont mix well with the rock.
Podrick Payne is from a lesser payne branch, and the boy clearly know his own parentage, nor is there or ever been a dispute about it.

And Jon Snow, well, i cant see lyanna and Tywin one on one, even not by rape, tywin doesn't seems that kind of man to lower himself so. Moreover he looks Stark like Arya, whom looks very much like Lyanna, so either he is a real ned ******* or a Lyanna *******, but i cant see him being offspring of Tywin
