Everyone needs a conspiracy theory....

Rereading AFFC reveals that Pycelle is the most informed, patient, and wise member of Tommen's Small Council... and that's just scary.

Or a chopped of one, that doesn't seem to be growing back as it should.

What if there was no moon tea at all, what if Pycelle made it up (some kinda clever scheme - his or his new patron's)..?

Did you just use Pycelle and clever in the same sentence? Well, since Littlefinger, Tyrion, and Varys all left KL, I guess Pycelle is the cleverest one left.

Who do you think Pycelle's new patron is? Kevan. The High Septon. Mace. Olenna. Littlefinger. Who?

BWWWAAHHAHHAHHAHHA! I AM THE SMART. S.M.R.T

Tysha, a woman from? (I swear it was Russia yesterday and now its Isreal) or GRRM? I think Tysha you are indeed covering your tracks like Jason Bourne.

(uuhhh, do we even know if GRRM has ever been to the forums or cares about us? Or does he just go that other stupidhead forum that thinks they know eveything...)

Boaz, you rock!

Yes, I think GRRM reads through the forum to get some new material so he can complete his series.

That's why it's taking so long, in truth. He is reevaluating all of his pre-planned plots and seeing if likes any of yours better.

Damn! I have been greatly vexed by the whole whore-wearing-Twin's necklace thing. But Tysha gave reason. I always thought it Tywins gentler side - him indulging her (remember how she always wanted to wear jewelry?) a bit after she took a stand against his son. What greater service can a whore do than to testify against your son? Oh, I guess plotting against him all along!

Okay, I am done reading about Lannisters. Got my fill for the day. it makes my own family seem, oh, so healthy.

About Margery going to Pycelle requesting moontea... Didn't Cersei offer to "help him remember," threatening to send him down to the dungeos if he failed to "remember" juicy info?

Littlfinger is my guess.
I agree.

About Margery going to Pycelle requesting moontea... Didn't Cersei offer to "help him remember," threatening to send him down to the dungeos if he failed to "remember" juicy info? .
I think Pycelle provoked Cersei (quite an easy task) and kinda made her make him say this:
- "why do you spend so much time with Margery?"
- "well, I have a reason but I won't tell you. its a secret."
:D

If he wanted to keep a secret he would say some rational lie, to convince Cersei it's nothing, but NOOO, he said "it's a secret" instead!

Ravens. What about them? So much attention to this bird...
"Their intelligence might be on par with canids such as wolves" (wiki)
Mormont had a raven, raven that always said interesting things...and the same raven that helped Sam.
Well, Mormont's raven have to be more than just a pet bird..
Ok the conspiracy theory goes like this:
Ravens are actually Children's (those "good" others with black cold hands whoever they are) creatures, spies, eyes in the Westeros, that how those Children keep an eye on what is going on in Seven Kingdoms. And the Night Watch of course (sitting on the shoulder of the Lord Commander..)

Tysha, very intriguing. But my feeling is that the ravens are just ravens and not CotF. I think the possibility that the CotF have the warging ability and use it to "see" and "act" through the raven as much more likely.

I've always wondered how the ravens knew where to go. In our world, homing pigeons are born in one area and then taken away to be used solely for the purpose of bringing a message back to that specific place of their birth. In ASOIAF, I get the feeling that the ravens just go where they are told to go. Of the rookeries at Dragonstone and Castle Black, do you think that they really kept specific ravens to travel to scores of different castles? Stannis sent his message to dozens, if not hundreds of castles. Seems kinda expesive and complicated... I think we'd have heard of raven resending services if this was true. No, I think the ravens have some special ability to allow them to go where they are sent.

Yes, Tysha, you're right about Pycelle provoking Cersei. What a fun job that is!

I don't believe that the ravens of the Seven Kingdoms are being warged by the Children or anyone else. I just think they're more intelligent than our ravens and with better training. Maybe when they are young, they accompany an older raven on a mission somewhere, so they can learn the commands and where to go.

My conspiracy theory was one of hope but not belief: I would have liked to believe that the Old Bear warged into his raven before he died, but I don't believe it's so. Too bad. And I kow this because the raven wouldn't have eaten the Old Bear's eyes had the Mormount been "in" him.

We learn in the new Jon preview chapter what word is the favourite of the Old Bear's raven.

Anyways, I have a question related to ravens:

If ravens are so smart and used for delivering messages and may even be used for wargging and crows are less smart and are only really good at feasting on corpses, then why is Bran on his way to see the "Three-Eyed Crow" and not the "Three-Eyed Raven". And why is Euron called "Crow's Eye" and not "Raven's Eye". The only explanation I could think of is that a crow has better vision than a raven but I'm just speculating.

Here's an idea... Okay, I'll confess it's probably the most absurd concept I've posted here... but I'm gonna put it up and see if any of you can find a way to prove it to be true...

Coldhands is actually Lyanna.

Facts: Lyanna was a mess when Eddard found her. There is a tomb for her in the Winterfell crypts.

Assumption: Lyanna died. This is all from Eddard's memory. IIRC, Cat sees Ned's bones, but Ned does not remember brining Lya's bones home... he brought her home.

Facts: Lyanna was willful. Lyanna was a capable fighter. She is assumed to have been the mystery knight at Harrenhal. Benjen Stark, First Ranger, is not a personable fellow to the NW rank and file.

Assumption: Benjen, weakest wolf, survived Robert's Rebellion. What if Benjen got himself killed like Cley Cerwyn did? What if Benjen died from an illness? What if Benjen was poisoned? What if Benjen was killed by Aerys II, but was forgotten?

Now what if Eddard took Lyanna and Jon home to Winterfell? Say... Ben died and was buried in Lya's coffin. Say... Lyanna, a fighter, assumed Benjen's identity and then hightailed it to the Wall so that none of the Stark retainers would recognize her. Say... Lyanna's skills and heritage quickly elevated her to a position of authority in the NW so that none can continually pry into her life. Say... Jon is raised as Ned's *******, but his mother checks in on him every few years.

Remember the exchange between Benjen and Jon during the feast at Winterfell? Jon said, "You're not my father." To which Benjen replied, "No. More's the pity." If the words are not exact, they're close... Anyway, Benjen's pity was that she is Jon's mother and helpless to guide him. Then she decided to bring him to her... she, Benjen, put the idea of joining the NW in Jon's head.

Eddard never stopped Jon from taking the black. Why? If Jon is Rhaegar's son, then Eddard should have told him! Eddard just let Ben sway Jon and take him away... forever. Why? Eddard did not tell Jon because Jon's mother was already at the Wall and could tell him at her leisure. But Benjen disappeared soon after Jon's arrival...

Benjen is now assumed by some to be Coldhands. Coldhands is black. Lyanna is associated with the blue rose of the North. Mayhaps Coldhands' hands are not black, but dark, dark, dark, dark blue.

Edit: Also the entire Arya is just like Lyanna comparison cannot be ignored. Arya looks like Ned. Arya is willful. Arya is a fighter... will become a very proficient fighter. Lyanna was beautiful, and Arya looks like her. Arya went south and had a major incident in the Riverlands. Both spent time in Harrenhal. Arya joined the NW... mayhaps Lya did too! Both love Eddard and Jon more than anyone else in their family.

Boaz, that's nuts! But I like nuts.

During my slowly progressing reread, I keep going back to thatexchane between Jon and Benjen, thinking, "What if benjen is Jon's father?" But I never thought of him being his mother... Just maybe that Benjen swang the same way as Jaime.

I do not believe hat a woman fully grown would pass fora man at the wall. ESPECIALLY not a ranger. They would always go off to "make water" alone, and that would be noticed. Not to mention the difference in form. Would we really believe that Roebert would have been so attracted to Lyanna had she the body of Brianne? Hey! Wait, listen "Lyanna," "Brienne." Sound similar, eh? I suppose Lyanna may have run off to the wall to escape beng with Robert. Fun but ... Not possible.

Coldshands being Lyanna may still be possible. Remember the story (I don't remember the storyteller) about the wilding king (?) who picked a rose a Winterfell... Then the lovers hid beneath Winterfell or decades. Thas how I think of Coldhands... hiding beneath the Wall.

Boaz you've outdone yourself...by coming dangerously close to my pet conspiracy theory...Benjen equals Jon's father...I know it's weird and only has that one passage to back it up, but...I like it...
