What drew you to SG1 and what keeps you?

Its great to see scientists gettin some of the action. People get to see them bein action folks rather than just bookish types. I like that. I was always goin to be a scientist but an adventurous one. Carter reminds me of me sometimes.!!

Well for me was after seeing the movie Stargate. I really love the concept and
when they make the series I decide to see it. What keeps me is that they
continue the concept and also have make great developments with it. I truly
think is one of the best series of science fiction in a long time, also they know
how to maintain the fans interested. And of course, they have a great cast.

I agree with that Krystal (nice name, btw). I've read magazines that say that SG-1 is basically rubbish, and however much I try to see why they say that, I can't come to a conclusion. I simply see nothing atrociously wrong with it.

It was the movie that got me started. I worked in London and travelled by the Underground and noticed that as an advert for the film they had pasted a huge stargate with chevrons around one of the tunnels so that it looked as though the train was going through the stargate and I thought, this looks like a good film. So it was..... Then when the series started I liked what they did. However.......... sometimes I get irritated by the morality that creeps in..... a morality which just emphasises the fact that we humans are really a pretty xenophobic bunch and as much as I love the idea of a stargate and it's possibilities, I don't think the actual authorities and many of the people of the planet are actually ready to bump into a slack handful of system lords and their associates..... Just sometimes it seems to me that SG1's policy of diplomacy is saying 'nice doggy' while they look for a big stick to hit it with!

Still......what keeps me watching is those pesky, but intriguing Goa'uld (definitely not the 'sexy' SG1 team!) and they keep killing 'em off. And I do think (as a former soldier) the System Lords should do something about the training of their Jaffa..... so far they all stink, no military tactics and no guts! I would have sent them all back to basic training!!

:D

Hi all!

Well, the first thing I saw was the movie too... I love ancient mythology, Egyptian on top, plus, I love sci-fic, so the movies had it all together... I was bound to love, and it didn't disappointed me.
The series... I just bumped in to them by an act of absolute chance... and haven't stopped bumping ever since :)

Why?

The same reasons, I guess... it stills manages to click together all that wonder from sci-fi, action, humour and history that I like in a series or a movie... so, if they have one episode that's not as good as the other, well, it happens to the best... so it had to happen to them, right?

;-)

I love just about anything sci fi and I liked the movie, the concept of it. I like the cultures they meet-- the Tok'ra, Nox, Oma and the Harsesis. It's a wonderful escape from reality. The stories hold my interest and the characters are realistic, I'd like to know more about them. I like the humor. The show sparks my imagination and makes me wish I could step through the stargate myself. :)

I'm sure there are a lots of us who would love to step through the Stargate to escape our sometimes dreary lives. What a way to explore the different worlds out there? You could step through it and jump to Mars in one leap or the Moon. It makes you think about what could possibly happen in years to come. Annette.

brings a whole new meaning to the words, "just popping out, won't be long"...peachy

Never thought of that one. It would be good to be able to do that. Just to say 'popping over to Australia for half an hour'. I'd love that one. Annette.

Just reassembling your molecules in the correct order and proportion.

And for the mags that called (SG-1) rubbish.... They had better watch some more TV before they do that mess again. SG-1 has good writing and excellent prodcution values and interesting stories to tell! Have they ever seen some of the rubbish they put on TV... geees! I am talking Major networks here!

instead of plane crashes you'd have to worry about your molecules reconfiguring themselves out of order-- gives new meaning to the expression---having your head up your ......oops g rated thread. ttfn

Truely it does! I just flashed to Jack and Bauer in Season 4'S Chain Reaction!

i agree asmiley!! this site makes the show that much more fun. and all the cool little tidbits you find out too.

and lets not forget baby aliens!!!!!

Yeah, Like In the Buffy Forum I never knew that the Actress who plays Willow actually wore a vamp costume for halloween once till Mr pointy said something.

It's fun learning about the actors and acresses and what other things they've done besides the show. Plus it's interesting to read the reactions people have to what you write about the shows!
