Wow! I disappear for a while, and the thread disappears! It took me a while to find this one! But at least I found it. Now I can come back when I have more time and see what I've missed!

I've been working on updating the Songs of the Chaapa'ai site. If you haven't seen my post about it, have a look at one in the General Discussion area titled "Hear ye! Hear ye! UNAS is born!"

So.... anyone here want to submit some of your fave filks for posting at SoC (Songs of the Chaapa'ai)?? We're also going to produce a limited run printed version (zine) to give to the guests (actors, producers, etc) at Gatecon; and the 10 best submissions to the site will be included (as long as the filker agrees).

GOA'ULD SONGBOOK

It's kinda far-fetched but here's my list:

'So I See' by Lene Marlin (Tok'ra)

'Honestly OK' by Dido (Sam in 'In the Line of Duty' post-Jolinar)

'Cruella De Vil' from 101 dalmations (Hathor/Nirti)

Question

Does anyone when this thread lost it? Songbook?

to: lene morissette

I'd love to see the filks you recommended. Can you persuade the authors to submit them to Songs of the Chaapa'ai? I'd scroll through the oodles of pages here, but there are just too many!

Thanks!

Hiya Deb, all my filks (and co-filks) are posted on this thread. I'm probably not the best judge of whether or not they're worthy of submitting. I'll let you decide. Please feel free to snaffle any of mine that you like the look of.
cheers
Mishkaz

as for what happened to this thread, I'm afraid my filk-muse is on vacation. I have been spending all my spare time creating for the defacing images thread (which is far less taxing on me poor little brain), but I haven't given up hope. Inspiration will no doubt return soon. As for the other filkers, I'm sure they have a note from their Mum's as to why they're absent :D:D

Mishkaz's Filks on this list

Okay, Deb. I take that as tacit agreement to plunder Mishkaz's filks for the site... with all due acknowledgement for your work,
Mishkaz;)

i just paged through, oh, maybe 20 pages or so, and "snagged" up 3 of Mishkaz' filks already! Good stuff! And love the song choices - yes, I'm old enough to know 'em all! ;-)

How 'bout:
1. "Stuck in the middle with you" by Stealers Wheel. Based on the "Solitudes" epi where Sam and Jack get trapped on an ice world.

2. I'm guessing title as "A Goa'uld with No Name", from A HORSE WITH NO NAME - America Based on Teal'c's point of view when he first joined the SGC

3. I'm guessing title as "SG-1", from "Babylon" by David Gray

Can we use these, and show the titles I noted for 2 and 3 ('cos from what I saw you just stated the original title)?

I learn Latin 2 and it's fun! My friend told me this rhyme that she made up:

Latin is a language
As dead as dead can b
It killed the ancient Romans and now its killing me!

latin poem

Sorry, Lene. My Mom learned that one when she was in high school and I'm almost 50. :(

I think it's been around awhile.

{But I'll betcha most folks don't remember it anymore... :rolleyes: }

Yup, I'm 16 and know it.

Every time I think about filks, I remember that I've got to read Skip's 'It wasn't me' one, if and when I ever see 'Legacy'. I told her I'd not forget it! It's months on and I still haven't!

Hi Deb, congratulations for managing to plough thru 20 pages without going crazy! Yes, I did quote the original titles for these filks, please feel free to rename them how you see fit and, as Rowan kindly pointed out, I only ask that you credit me when you release them into the ether.

Your request got me thinking, and to be honest, I'd forgotten half the stuff I filked, but one that sticks in my mind is the Sheryl Crow filk, mainly because it took me so damn long to complete coz I wanted the words to fit properly to the music, so I'm kinda proud of that one. Here's a link to stop you having to plugh thru another 20 pages http://www.ascifi.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=18322&highlight=sheryl+crow#post18322 . Also, me and Skip co-wrote a filk on Summer Nights from Grease which I also like. I know Skip would also be honoured if that was found worthy. I'll try and find the link for you.

many thanks for your hard work in collating all this
Mish
