There are now full scripts of this episode available online (at least what purports to be a full real script!)

I haven't looked at them, because I'm not sure if I want to know it all yet. But if someone does, and wants to copy it here for everyone else, they could do so. trektoday

Cast Praised In 'Enterprise' Pilot Reviews

The latest online 'Broken Bow' reviews continue the trend of positive reaction towards the new series, in particular highlighting the performances of the main cast members.

Entertainment Weekly's Steve Daly awarded the Enterprise pilot a B plus, stating that it "gives the Trek' franchise a good, much-needed jolt. The tone of the series is set neither by sci-fi pie-in-the-sky fantasy nor by slavish adherence to Star Trek mythology, but by [Scott] Bakula's fine, easygoing yet tough demeanor as Capt. Jonathan Archer."

Although Daly labelled Jolene Blalock's T'Pol the series's "designated sex symbol," he commended the actress's performance. "Unlike some performers who've applied the Vulcan makeup, Blalock doesn't just let her pointy ears do the acting," he wrote. "She has a slyness running beneath her Vulcan glare that will probably stand her in good stead aboard the Enterprise NX-01."

The review noted that Dr. Phlox, played by John Billingsley, could be a 'love him or hate him' character. "I can see where Phlox's clipped diction and imperiously sunny attitude (his chirpy envoi, "Optimism, Captain!" already sounds like a catchphrase in the making) may get on some fans' nerves," Daly wrote. "Me, I think the guy's a clever little devil."

Billingsley was also singled out by 'Roj Blake' in a review posted at Ain't It Cool News. "In particular, Dr. Phlox was the standout for me," he wrote. "He didn’t have a whole lot of screen time, but made very good use of what he did have."

"Chief Engineer Charlie 'Trip' Tucker makes a worthwhile impression, with probably the third most amount of screen time, after Blalock and Bakula," the review continued. "Yes, Bakula. What can I say? It's Scott Bakula. He does exactly what you'd expect. If you've watched a handful of Quantum Leap's, you know what this guy is going to deliver – no more, no less."

Also at AICN, 'Viacom Girl' was on hand to give her thoughts on the pilot. Although she said that the final half-hour of the episode was "convoluted," once again, the cast were the main talking-point. "The best thing Enterprise has going for it is the cast," she wrote. "These actors spark, are often funny and have actual chemistry - but most of the praise should be heaped upon Scott Bakula, who commands both the ship and show as a true star should. Everyone will like Scott Bakula in this, including those who may not have liked him before."

Have you seen it yet Neo? Is it any good?

annette :D

Not yet... its due to arrive this week

Well that was well worth watching for me.

No doubt there will be those that will pick it apart, but I enjoyed the episode.

And since I'm a Bakula fan, that didn't hurt. Definetely cute in his underwear.

But other than that, I did like the episode. I nice take on the early days of starfleet without all the perks we got used to. :D

I've been reading the (mainly negative) comments on Enterprise 'Broken Bow' at Slashdot

1) The "Armour Plating" goes "offline" and cannot be "Polarized" -- Armour Plating!? Not electomagnetic shields but Armour plating.

2) The "Bad Chemistry" -- "Methyl oxide?" "Nitrogen sulphide?" -- Dilithium and all those new elements was bad enough!

3) The "Soft Porn" "Vulcan Chick" "T'Pol has Silicon..." "Archer told her at their first meeting he'd love to knock her on her ass" -- this just isn't Star Trek "as we know it Captain!"

4) Kumanduh Tuckah -- Redneck of the 'Confederation' of Planets!

5) "Theme music stinks." "The theme song has to go." "The theme song isn't an instrumental."

6) "Hmm, Neptune in 10 minutes means a light-hour per minute, so about a light-year per week. I hope they brought board games."

To sum it up one person wrote "Bad science, bad acting, bad plots, good t*ts."

I'm going to go and cry somewhere now!

More (it only gets worse)

I've recovered a little and managed to read a little more...

"Connor Trinneer as an engineer who shares a space shower with T'Pol that is sure to have the Internet buzzing." (It is getting worse!)

"Not that it's all Bakula's fault. The role is very poorly written - they've got him bringing a puppy with him onto the ship. A puppy!" (Lost for words!)

"Enterprise won't easily be accused of being overly cerebral. Archer seems destined to make Capt. James Kirk look like a striped-pants diplomat." (I think I've worked that out already.)

"In their first major television appearance, twins Diane and Elaine Klimaszewski play the exotic dancers, who appear in an alien red-light district during the pilot, 'Broken Bow.' The twins wore full-body latex for the roles." (Braga and Berman must really like this kind of thing.)

"It's hush-hush, but I'm reporting exclusively that William Shatner will reboard the Enterprise! The "Star Trek" icon has a role on the new UPN show "Enterprise," playing the ancestor of Captain Kirk. And if his rocket's still got the right kind of fuel, he'll be offered a regular berth." (Sorry, I don't believe it!)

"They encountered some phaser fire from the alien ships, and are forced to retreat to the phosphorous layer of the atmosphere. T’Pol reported that the structure was primarily composed of various ships linked together magnetically." (??)

Many reviews are positive though.
