okay - tossing out my 2 cents (maybe more)
i watched this - it was well done - Bakula was good - (but i like him, so i'm a bit biased) -- he does bring his beagle (it's not a puppy - it's a dog - full grown) - he talks to it too - kinda weird, but hey, Picard had fish. and remember - this is the 'early' stuff - before Kirk and Spock and really well working transporters and such -- don't you take your pet w/ you when you travel??
as far as the accents? i wasn't paying attn - i was trying to catch the dialogue - AND i was too busy being annoyed by the poorly written Vulcan dialogue and the badly portrayed T'Pol (or whatever her name was) -- correct me if i'm wrong, but Vulcan's do NOT use contractions, correct?? she used so many i was almost beginning to count them, and some of her reactions were too 'human' for a Vulcan -- i mean, i can understand that it's difficult to 'react' w/o emotion, but if you know you're gonna be a Vulcan (a popular alien race for ST fans) i would think you'd try pretty damn hard to get it right (i'm terrible at acting, so i wouldn't be good for this, but if i was given the role, i'd study hard to make sure i got as close as i could!) -- anyway --
aside from the Vulcan chic, the show was pretty good -
oh - and James Horan (let me list his cred's here - Highlander, couple of ST's - i think he was on TNG and DS9 - but not sure, some others....) is the 'mysterious voice from the future' -- he has a recognizable voice - and Horan is a GREAT villain!
oh - is it just me, or was everyone pronouncing Qo'nos like KRONOS?? (just something that caught me as odd)
one more thing (and i really did enjoy the show, i'm just really bad about nit-picking) --- the Vulcans reminded me of the Aeschyn (sp?) on Stargate (see ep 2010) -- holding back the humans - tho the Vulcans weren't trying to take over Earth -
okay- i kinda liked the (i think he was the weapons officer) who was worried about his equipment not getting to the ship on time - he was amusing -- and the Doctor (who looks like a Cardassian) was pretty funny -- and i liked the Comm officer - she's supposed to have a really good ear for languages - which is great b/c they don't have the universal translator yet - tho she's a bit 'snippy' at Capt Archer -- she's frustrated, i guess, b/c Klingon's have a weird dialect ---
this show has potential -- let's hope they know what they're doing and run w/ the good stuff and pay enough attn to the fans to keep the show alive!!
