Batman Begins (2005)

The cast is signed on for 2 more films. It will be awhile as both the director and Bale are doing another movie before even thinking about the next Batman.

My take on the situation was that this was a "do-over" or "reboot" if you will. These will not tie into the other films.

My view on the film is that they finally got it right.

Absolutely! What I heard is that they literally told everyone involved in the film to forget all the batman movies to date. I also head they were directly trying for the atmosphere of Frank Miller's batman works. I thought the film was great fun. :)

Popularity clearly being the benchmark of quality.. :D

Re: Batman Begins! Question...

Does anyone know how many more batman films there gonna make ? thanks

Re: Batman Begins!

I really liked this film. It was SO much better than the last fiasco that came on the screen. I could've done without Katie Holmes though.

Re: Batman Begins!

I quite enjoyed this film, but Tim Burton's first Batman was so beautifully made. And eerie, and horrible.

Re: Batman Begins!

I didn't want to watch this as I loved Burton's so much but I got round to watching it on saturday and what a film I totally agree 10/10 so dark so Batman can't wait for the new take on the Joker

Re: Batman Begins!

I wasnt very impressed with the new batman. There were some niggling aspects which really didn't fit in with his character IMO. But then I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to film adaptions (I'm not satisfied unless it's absolutley correct!)

Now I've seen it I'm inclined to say Micheal Caine is a passable Alfred, though Christian Bale is less good as Batman.

That said, it is probably one of the best of the modern Batman films even if it does blow common canon out of the water. Gone is the quasi modernistic gothic archetecture and ridiculous fantasy to leave something far more real and hard edged. Rather closer to some of the original stories.

There are bugs though.
If it isn't radiation, then a superhero has to have spent years training in some unheard of Tibetan Monastry to learn his skills, why not learn in gutter fights like the rest of us?.
Here they chose the Tibetan Monastry and Ninja's- So common

Then there is the train crash. Anything that takes that many support pillars out of a tower block is surely going to be sharing the same space in the basement as the rest of the tower?

Re: Batman Begins!

I just watched this last night - brilliant film!

The dialogue was crisp, filmatography was excellent, and there was a lot of good character in it.

Very good supporting cast, too - Gary Oldman as Gordon, Michael Caine as Alfred, Morgan Freeman as the source for the technology, and Rutger Hauer as director of Wayne Enterprises.

What was really interesting as well is that both the male and female leads were pretty plain looking, too - almost as if they opted for actors, rather than leads to stand around just looking pretty. :)

Frankly, I'm surprised to see a film of this quality come out of Hollywood - it's as if the bankers were so desperate to revive the Batman franchise that they let the creative people make the film for once. :)

Definitely recommended. :)

Re: Batman Begins!

Saw this film on saturday. What can I say?? Absolutely brilliant. Cast is perfect. Christian Bale has won me over for best Batman / Wayne, only just overtaking Keaton.

Good to see the franchise getting back to the comic book roots, instead of "pick an enemy or 2 and try and write a film about it" approach of Batman and Robin / Batman Forever.

10 / 10 definitely.

Re: Batman Begins!

I got the dvd for christmas, I was a bit cautious (is that the right word?) at first but I enjoyed the film a lot, there was nothing wrong with it, I loved the way it was filmed and the strong story - looking forward to the next film :)

Re: Batman Begins!

What impressed me most is they didn't try and make it this neon filled show. The colors were mute and controlled and the acting was basic not ... fluff. After Keaton left the Batman franchise behind it was a decline that couldn't be overturned. Until now IMO.

Re: Batman Begins!

I can't believe I haven't posted on this thread!!!

I saw the film a couple of months ago and absolutely loved it! It is by far the truest to the Batman stories and thoroughly entertaining.

Christian Bale was fantastic as was Gary Oldman and I have to say it, Michael Caine as Alfred! I loved them all!

I especially liked the fact that the director delved into Bruce Wayne's past and we got to know a little more about him, his time spent with Liam Neeson's character was very insightful and explained a few things for me.

Anyway, simply brilliant, cannot wait for the second one!

xx

Edit: Can't believe I wrote Albert instead of Alfred. It's because my son's name is Alfred and I always get confused as to whether it's the same or not (don't ask, my brain's very complex and rarely works as it should!!!)
