The Revived Tolkien Trivia

*Awards a plough-shaped bell to Celeritas*

And, to quote Pyan after my first successful offering...

"And now the hard part...your turn!" :D

Re the cellphone, no problem, although if you get a chance on someone else's computer sometime, you should check this place out in all its full glory...! Also, there's probably an applet that you can download which will allow you to "mark up" your postings from the phone in Windows Mobile (stripped down as it is....).

Oh yes - setting 'em is much harder than solving 'em...:D:D

Looking down upon Túrin she (Nienor/Níniel) cried: 'Farewell, O twice beloved! A Túrin Turambar turun ambartanen: master of doom by doom mastered!

Said by Níniel, at the brink of Cabed-en-Aras, just after the deaths of Túrin Turambar and Glaurung, and as an epitaph to Túrin's tragic life. It's also a clever play on words, an epigram using most of Túrin's name.

Silmarillion - QS - Chapter 21 - Of Túrin Turambar

spot on! not that I really thought I could pull one over on y'all...started simple to get into the swing of things...

*ballerina twirls over to pyan and jingles the bell before dropping it at pyan's side*

Righty-ho!

Is the cloak that Bilbo wears as he sets off from Hobbiton for Erebor, the same one as he's wearing as he sets off for Rivendell sixty years later?

Fellowship of the Ring
chapter 1: A Long expected party
page 57

" from a locked drawer, smelling of moth balls, he took out an old cloak and hood. they had been locked up as if they were very precious, but they were so patched and weatherstained that their original colour could hardly be guessed: it might have been dark green"

so the answer is possibly?

assuming bywater isn't a part of hobbiton...which I think is correct but don't remember...

the Hobbit
chapter 11: Roast Mutton
page 42

dwalin said "...as for a hat, I have got a spare hood and cloak in my luggage."

bilbo left in a hurry without his things so dwalin gave him a hood and cloak at the green dragon in bywater.

so no.

*fingers crossed* ?

Nearly - there's one more quote on the subject I'd like...:p

ug...i'm lost. pyan you're smaug toying with bilbo here. *grumpy face* where's the quote? and if you say it's in the letters i'm going to scream! Vader (my brain dead dog) has a penchant for eating my books and the letters died about an hour ago in agony, pain and dog slobber after I just bought it, last night, specifically to vanquish thee, mighty dragon of arda!

just call me niniel, folks.

(shimmers away)

Tick tick....a clue?

*Muffled chanting in the background*

"I will behave, I will behave, I will behave and not try to steal the thread...."

(As if I was certain of the answer!)

I just read this, so I too am trying to still my fingers on the keyboard.

AAARGH! The passage is so close, so close.

"Tick, tick" indeed!

in case y'all didn't guess. that photo is my copy of the Hobbit.

Pyan, are you telepathically controlling my dog? He ate the letters after I bought it for this thread. Now he's eaten the hobbit. i'm putting my Silmarillion and LotR in a steel lockbox and wraping it in chains. also, know anyone in th US that wants a dog and doesn't read?

answer the question and i'll rejoin the game tomorrow when I can go to the bookstore.
