Have just started my WIP
The Immortals - 6000 words and hopefully tripling that by the end of August. A realistic goal is getting up to 15k this month
After reading about everyone's word counts, I feel quite inferior

I used to feel the same way then I started writing instead of doing school work and suddenly my numbers jumped way up from under 2000 to over 8000 and now thanks to Camp NaNoWriMo, Doomed is 15026 words without notes and 16,537 with notes. And now I know that I have 1511 words of just character notes.

I started writing instead of doing school work

I have exams every year, but I was taking a class online over the summer and ended up writing when I should have been doing math. Oh well. It begs to be said though that class had two exams and I passed both.

But these are my first ever state exams (they're called junior certs, so if I fail them I have to repeat two years

We all have to balance writing time with our other commitments - for me, as a boring adult who's got past the exams stage, it's against work. Do what you can, and celebrate what's acheived. We all work at our own rate; the word counter is a tool to track individual progress, and a motivator to look back a couple of weeks and say, hey, well done me, I made progress, whatever it is.
Speaking of which, no progress today - hopefully plot will appear magically in front of me. If not, there's graft ahead...

I, Singularity is now 30,523 including notes. After derailing the ending, the Muse is at least providing some nice ideas for the parts between re-written-to-death opening and vaguely-formed-idea-but-definitely-derailed ending.

Trying to stay off the 300-word challenge thread, ignore the voting, and concentrate on my writing.

Well, after a crap July, with very little writing and word count going into reverse thanks to pruning, I've finally reached another milestone:
Provisional title: Black as Night (if it wasn't for the prophecy I'd dump it)

Word count: 160,126
Status: for the characters -- murder and mayhem
.......... for me -- desperately trying to weave all the plot strands together

Posting cos I'm at a milestone. TBM is at dun dun duuuuun 50,499 words! Yay! (315 of those are notes, so I'm still just over 50k).

I've been editing mostly this week and I've ended up at about the same word count. I've culled a lot of saids and may need to cull some more of the sneeky little things...

A little pschological milestone: first draft of part one of inish carraig is completed: 24500 words. It has been a struggle coming out of my comfort zone of the abendau stuff (plus editing of that keeps pulling me away) but its taking shape and developing some flavour.

Sitting at a fun number: 76 767 (honestly I just looked)

I really need to get this one closer or over 100k. Once I end a book, as I have done with this one, I find it hard to add words in large amounts. I have had to go right back to the start and do a complete slow read-through. Trying to find places where I can world-build and add more character subtleties etc.
