The chronicles word counter!

I have a start. And an end. And sort of a middley bit. Sitting at 33500 words, and the first proper writethrough beginning to take place. I'd like the first 15000 to be sitting sort of ship shape ish in about 6 weeks time.

Sunset over Abendau, needs a big edit, but I'll get this one done first.*

*I wonder how people like TJ who work between two projects at a time manage it, I'm finding i have to work at them seperately, or the voices are getting all mixed up and Ulster space people doesn't seem to have quite the right ring to it.

Having gotten a new book idea Saturday morning and started work on it after the Doctor Who marathon was over that night, I'm now sitting at 3053 for the new WIP to be thought of as TFP. :)

KTM is still sitting in a pile of thought-sludge and mired down at 55k-ish.

In 6months I've done 10 of 12 chapters for my new one, but it's all on paper so I dont know how many words. I am proud of it though. Have stopped doing as much though as purchased a house so have been rather busy.

Not done any writing for a week, possibly more, but managed to get a scene written today.

So TBM is now 54,873 and I've deleted some of my notes as I'm reckoning I can now remember those bits. I hope.

Thing is, I've only just realised that I only ever write a scene at a time. No wonder it's taking me forever!

The Many - Start date January 2012
This is now 09/09/2012 - 28,800 still stalled and waiting on lots of editing and restructuring - still just sitting and waiting.

Culture Shock - Start date May 2012
09/09/2012 – 40,000+ A mile stone...

Keep going, I'm waiting for my next installment... :)

Sunset needs a bit of work, I'm planning to pick up and edit from the beginning, and work on one of the character arcs that seems a little lacking in about a month's time, when beta feedback is all in. :)

In the meantime, Inish Carraig has crawled up to 40000 words and is expanding in all sorts of arcs, some expected, some not. I'm going along for the ride. I'm pretty pleased, though, it's been a busy week with work, and I've made more progress than I thought I would.

MC2 - now at 80615 and rising. whooo - 80k!

MC2 - HKV
burgeoning sequel, with added dragons
burst through the 90k barrier last night. now have 30k-ish to get all players into position for last act, reveal all sekrit revelations, and fight the good fight, before parading through to the Last Sentence that has been in my mind for the past three or five years.
so, not much to do, really.

I don't know how you do it Springs, you have a word count I'd kill for...

Culture Shock - 43,000.

Title: The King of Ink and Shadows
Genre: YA fantasy
Word Count: 43,500 words.
Status: I've finished the first draft! It turned out to be rather longer than I thought and now I need to go and make sure it has a sensible shape (because I rather think it hasn't). I also need to go and spot what bits of story just spin away into nothing (shadowbeast, anyone?) and which characters vanish without explanation never to be seen again... But it's all written! Yey!

So, my first foray into this thread -

Circumbinary (environmental sf, terraformed world, ethical and political issues): 80,000 words, plus c.25,000 words of an ending that doesn't quite link up after the last edit.
Status: Currently on hiatus, whilst I work out some kinks in the story - it's a much bigger story (in scope) than I first imagined and I need to step back and look at it from the outside. I suspect I already know what needs to be done - rewrite, using the original only as a framework.

So in the meantime...
Closed System (working title) (Mundane sf, political/detective thriller). Just passed 18,000 words.
Status: In progress, although it's been stalled, having only written 500 words in the last week, partly due to a dose of the blues, so I'm hoping that posting this will inspire me to write more, for fear of looking like a slacker. Dont worry, that's the last time I'll mention my feelings on-site. ;)

Doomed has oh so many words 56,746 words. I am so confused by the word counts I've been getting. each counter has a different counting method and they have been differing by somewhere between 300 and 2500 words. I picked one in the middle.

I have new projects:

Xena don't know if I'll keep this title. It has about 700 words that I need to type up, I have been writing it in a notebook during school.

Patchwork has 550 words and I've only been working on it since this morning at around 7:30.

Work has been getting in the way a little but such is life.

Well done, Hex, the feeling of arriving at an ending is great. Fingers crossed, in six months time...
Keep at it, Abernovo, it's not always about big a word count. Just keep chipping away.

Jumping in here... Great way to keep motivated!!

Title: (in Portuguese) O Mistério de Diana - book 1 (with specific book title here)
Genre: urban fantasy for Middle Grade readers
Word Count: 16,695.
Word Count aim: around 20,000 (around 80,000 for total story divided into 4 books)
Status: Getting towards the end of the first draft... 3 chapters to go! Really excited, this is the first time I've ever been close to finishing anything.

Query: I have book 2 planned out and am considering jumping straight into it before going back and re-working book 1. I've got a great little groove going right now, doing around 1,500 words per day and enjoying it, so I was thinking of just keeping on and then leaving the revising/rewriting for December and January when my kids will be on holiday and turning the house upside down (and hogging the computer!).

Has anyone done this? Or would it be better to just focus on fine-tuning the first part of the story (book 1)?

Diana: Pushed on with the last chapters today and have finished the first draft. Total word count now at 19,701. I still have some more stuff to add here and there so it'll probably end up at around 21,000 when I'm done. I know its a baby bit of a book compared to a lot of word counts on here, but its the size I was aiming at, and right now I'm just thrilled to have got to the end of something!!

After some thought I've decided to do some very basic revising now - just stuff I noticed along the way that needs editing or adding. Then I'm just going to go ahead with the next part of the story (book 2) and let this one sit it out a bit. Its too hard to be objective this close up!

Chipping along for the moment. Massive edits ahead, but one thing at a time.

TBM: 67,041. No notes. I've only written 530 words today but it's been descriptive stuff so it's taken me ages.
