That's a really good word count, Mouse. Glad to see it's getting there, even if you didn't write anything yesterday, or whenever it was you last looked at it.



A new project for me, coming along well. And a bit of a change to, I'm writing a rarely touched genre for me, and it's in first person too. I am ambitious.

Inish Carraig, this has been a week of teeth grinding, but I now have an end I'm happy with, although it's a draft (thanks, Ursa, for the advice)

So, 66000 words

now, back to the start and turn it into a proper book. :)
 
Well I'm planning on doing actual NaNoWriMo this year and I went through my Camp NaNo novel, Doomed and it only has 18,582 words, of story. I hop that after NaNo it will have quite a few words. hopefully at least 50,000 new.

Genre: Science Fiction, set in current time.
Start Date: I wrote the idea in 2008, but didn't actually write any prose until August 2012
Word count: 3,620 (1,060 overall today)
Status: Trying to stick with this one and not let other ideas pull me away.

Had some good crits from those chron members who saw earlier drafts. Thanks guys.

Everyone has good word counts this week, even Mouse. From what I can see, WP, it could be a 6k naughty scene - be careful, you'll go blind. Lastly, welcome Glitch who I have been beasting to focus and stick to his writing. Everyone, he loses focus easy so now he is on here keep an eye on him, don't let him slack off.

I used to delete when i edited but now ii start with very sketchy drafts and add depth with each write through whilst also tightening individual scenes if that makes sense?

I expect it to get up to the 85000 mark (i hope!) it's topping 70 at the moment with the fleshing out if the last chapters.

And ty, so do i, its staying in love with it that keeps us going through the editing/ rewrites, i think.

In redrafting the first part of my book, the science side of the world turned more into a steampunk theme, so I changed the genre to suit. Shame, but looks like I'm back in my normal territory again. The book has undergone a restructure with the PoVs. It now switches between two 1st-person PoV characters. One set in present time, the other in the past. Also there is the occasional 3rd-person minor scene, needed to get across character development that can't be done in the PoV of the main characters. These are short and rare though. Overall, it's quite an ambitious project.

Diana book 2 (MG 'urban fantasy' for lack of a better term) - finished first draft today.
20,500 words, but should grow a bit when editing/revising as I added a few things along the way that have to appear earlier in the story.
