Just wrote a long scene about scones. I think this story will need some trimming.

Starting to get back into it. Rewriting the end of chapter 9 in relation to thread http://www.sffchronicles.co.uk/forum/539482-my-story-wont-let-me-write-it.html (have 10 chapters so far).

Not as quick as the rest of you, but getting there.

Just about to start chapter 11 which deals with the next big revelation in the story.

I found 30 min before my dinner out (great sushi restaurant with my wife, sister in law and her husband) and I pounded out a solid character chapter about her childhood and it created a lot of plot tie in potential. My WiP is now a solid 5,200 words. I could have sat for hours with words flying off my fingers.

I hope to get some more done this weekend (long weekend in parts of canada)

Good work to everyone else posting on this thread.

Have finished the first draft of the reveal. Mostly happy with how it turned out.

Character has been doing things I didn't see coming. She's a determined girl. Hoping her thriller-esque behaviour meshes gracefully with the story's environment. Most of this is very spare -- needs filled in with detail like what things looks like.

(and I need to say thank you to Abernovo, too. He knows everything!)

He does, he's incredible. (I have been annoying him for Galaxy as well.:))

Galaxy, having gone off on a tangent and been thoroughly advised it isn't working, I am now strangely confident about the approach I was taking before.

So, 33,269, with the end still to be drafted, but for now, back to the beginning and add some layers and structure.

For days when that gets too much:

The Waters and the Wild, magical realism, probably a short story: 2,384.

I'm also doing a shave off Abendau's Child and have reduced it by about 2000 words, all of the sledgehammer variety... :)

Thank you, both, but you exaggerate; the tiny molehill of my knowledge is vastly outweighed by the huge mountain of my ignorance.
And, you weren't annoying at all, springs. Neither of you are. :)

Aber knows lots of dodgy stuff too, tis great. :D

Uh...

BGN - the collab: 24,537 words.
Untitled new thing: 2,345 (which is a pleasing number, isn't it!)

Found a few minutes and now up to 6,000 words. I hope to end chapter three today.

Been a busy week and have not had much writing time. I will try to buckle down and get something done in the next couple days.

Current Word Count : 6,512

Is there a word cutter thread? I'm trying to get my total word count to a publishable 120,000, and have a strong two part structure. Having finished the first part, I'm trying to do an edit that strengthens the story while getting the first half down to 55 - 60,000 words. Anyway, might be fun to have the same sort of thread, but for editing down.
