New GRRM Update on ADWD

Hold the phone!

I am pretty 99.99999% certain that GRRM has said at some point that there will be no POV's from undead characters. That leaves Stoneheart and Thoros out (and possibly Coldhands).

If Brienne is to have a resolution in ADWD, then the new POV could be someone like Lemon Lem or a surprise Howland Reed. I would bet more on Sandor being that POV when he comes to Brienne and company's rescue (or not). I say this because Sandor is one of my favourite characters and that POV would be off the charts.

I do not recall that GRRM has said that Brienne's faith will be known or that cliffhanger will be resolved in ADWD. My guess is that it will not be and is more fitting for TWOW. Especially as GRRM, with the exception of Cersei, has moved everything happening in the Riverlands or King's Landing to TWOW. Cersei's chapter in ADWD may prove a big clue to her faith or her next destination. Somewhere near the Wall mayhaps or across the Narrrow Sea. Better than joining Ned.

There were plenty of other speculations in that other thread including:

Jorah Mormont
Brynden Tully
Edmure Tully (unlikely)
Jeyne Westerling
Auranne Waters
Osha
Howland Reed (that would be the bomb but highly unlikely)
Garland Tyrell
Alleras/Sarella
Darkstar
Qaithe
Loras Tyrell

GRRM has definitely said that Varys, Howland Reed and Littlefinger are out of the question as POVs. They 'know too much' to work as POVs, apparently.

Undead characters are out, so Catelyn won't have any more POVs. Coldhands is a possibility. Thoros isn't undead though, so he's in the picture.

GRRM has said there will be no House Tyrell POVs in ADWD, so Loras and Margaery are also out of the equation.

I bet more characters have died in ASOIAF than live in the average fantasy story :)

Ah, so you think that the next big gatherings after the Red Wedding should be the Kraken Wakes...?

Wouldn't it be "delcious" if the new POV is the Un-Cat?

Now that would be nice. As someone else said - I think Cul - there's probably not a great deal to Un-Cat's thinking at the moment though.

If my prediction about Gendry sitting the Throne is right, then maybe him?

And I stand by my prediction for Brienne - she agrees to kill Jaime, but then breaks her oath.

Well, she can't speak very well, but her thinking might be fine. :)

Lady Stoneheart

I hate Freys, thought Lady Stoneheart. I really do. And Boltons, too. She gestured for her merry men to go find a Frey and kill him. Yeah, she thought, that'll be sweet.

Indeed, Catelyn thinks to herself, "Kill the Freys. Kill the Freys. Kill Kill Kill. Must...have...my...revenge...My neck hurts"

Groans! :D:D:D

You know, I could see GRRM making Brienne actually kill Jaime. I feel there has to be some significance to him giving her the Valyrian sword. That sword is going to crop up again somewhere. I do believe that Jaime will die before the end [sobs!] and Brienne killing him with his own sword to keep an oath to a dead woman is just the sort of twisted honourableness and irony that GRRM would go for. The whole idea leaves me uncomfortable, both for Jaime AND Brienne, so yeah it will probably happen! Cersei needs to be worked into the picture somewhere though, as I also believe she and Jaime will die together (or at least within a very short span of time).

The new POV will be none other than... HODOR! :D

"Hodor, HODOR!" Hodor said.

Hodor I

He awoke suddenly, the small cracking of wood off in the distance disturbing what was already another night twisted and tormented by "the dreams". Hodor, he thought grimly. He knew this day would come, MUST come, yet the shock of its' arrival still startled him. The men approached quietly, and he was equally quiet as he padded out to meet them. Hodor, Hodor, HODOR. He had to clamp his hand over his own mouth to keep the words from spilling out.The others still slept. Bran seemed to be running in his sleep again, but showed no signs of waking. The others never stirred. Hodor, he thought grimly. It was better this way. He could not bear to see their faces when they knew they were betrayed.

I got an advance copy of the book. Sorry to spoil it for you guys :(
