New GRRM Update on ADWD

My understanding was that they had a week or two yet. But I also believe that the thing could probably have been handed in a week or two ago if it had been really, really needed then. The July 12th deadline was not pulled out of someone's backside - it was always a realistically achievable one with a bit of breathing space.

GRRM's editor confirming:

I always assumed the July 12th bascially meant a hard deadline of May 12th or so, and also that GRRM was 100% confident that he could finish in plenty of time.

I've sifted thorugh the first 12 or so pages of the thread, and I'm convinced that Corn! Corn! Corn!'s guess of April 1, 2011 wins. ViZion is second with May 11th 2011

I predicted May 8th (see post#304). Not that I'm proud to be more than two months out, and that on my second attempt (the first being May 8 2010).

I think I'll have to stick with the same day (whatever it was), but in 2011.

I'm not going to claim anything yet. (But what's the prize...? )

What a week I'm having!

First, my son was born ten weeks early last Sunday (thankfully both boy and mother are doing well). I've named him Logan - good strong name with sci-fi heritage!

Second there's the royal wedding which I have to say was breathtaking.

And thirdly I've just read that GRRM has finished ADWD!
