Casting news from the TV series

I loved Kick-Ass. I'm not sure why, but Arya never came to mind when I watched it, but now that you've mentioned it, ................... :)

"Imp" (as you prefer;))

She also has experience in saying the dreaded C-word (c*nt, by the way, for those who don't know:D). I think it was as much that which triggered thoughts of Arya's 'Camel c*nt' than the fighting, but she really was awesome in the action scenes.

Probably my favourite film this year.

Neil Fingelton, Britain's tallest man, has auditioned for the role of Gregor Clegane. At 7 foot 6, Neil is actually the same height as Gregor in the books. However, as the linked photo shows, he is not as muscled or beefed-up, which to me makes it less likely he'll get the part (however, given that Gregor doesn't show up until later, maybe Episode 4 or 5 in the series, he has some time to get in shape).

Well he's going to be armoured most the time - they could just pad it out. Cheaper than relying on visual effects to make him seem larger, if they do want to remain faithful to the book. I would have thought they'd just make him a smidge smaller. Bigger than everyone else, sure, but not circus-freak big...

You guys have most likely already read GRRM's recent not-a-blog posts, but for those who were wondering if the new character of Roz would effectively stand in for Shae...

According to GRRM, recent interviews for Shae have taken place - so she's definately in as written.

Imp - I couldn't help but notice that GRRM's latest post (on the subject of Iron Man 2) infers he is also something of a fan of Kick-Ass. I must say, for such a clever man you leave quite the trail of bread crumbs...:)

Wish I could say if he's any good, but I've never seen Hollyoaks or the Bill. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever known anyone who watches the Bill...

Suffice to say, he'll be working with better scripts.

As far as comedians here in the UK are concerned, Hollyoaks doesn't employ people who can act (except, perhaps, behind the camera).

Let us all hope that they're wrong.

Look, this kid... Finn Jones... doesn't have to act, he just has to be Loras. Now, I don't mean to reflect upon Loras' sexuality... I just mean that Jones needs to be cute, athletic, and sixteen or seventeen. He needs to be cocksure (no slight intended) and as full of himself as a teenager can be... His biggest challenge is to match Jaime in arrogance.

I cannot recall a scene that Loras needs to carry... his biggest scenes are in ASOS when he asks Eddard for the honor of bringing justice to Gregor, in ACOK when he is bested by Brienne, in AFFC when he accuses Brienne, and in AFFC when Jaime takes him to task... and that's it. Loras is not a big role. He needs to look like a teen idol is all.

I welcome any actor who would want to play that role. This can certainly prove to be a very good choice.

GRRM has also confirmed that Roy Dotrice will play the role of Pycelle

So some of us (The Imp**) will already know how Pycelle sounds.

** - But given that he's probably GRRM in disguise, that was always true. ;):)

It must suck to be a super tall actor looking for a job. I can't imagine there's that many good ones around. They must be sick of each other all showing up to the same auditions (I guess little actors would be the same). Are they specifically looking for a really tall actor, or can they just go all Harry Potter and just cast anyone with the aid of SFX and optical illusions and such?

I'm not really sure about the casting of Loras. He seems to be lacking a certain je ne sais quoi. Oh okay, he's not that bad.

He's alright.

I kinda like him!

He's perfect!

Typical Loras charm working its magic.

Well, they could not have found a better fit for Sam (one of my favourite characters, btw) in terms of looks and how I pictured him.

I agree, TK. His face looks like Samwell's. (Well, the one in my head.)

I'll add my two cents and agree that he looks like a perfect Sam. If he is even just a competent actor he should do fine.

Miltos Yerolemou as Syrio Forel.

Also, in the same post, Luke McEwan as Rast (one of the other Night's Watch trainees).
Not at all as I pictured Syrio. I actually know a performer/actor who would have been PERFECT, but he said he had contractual obligations whbich precluded him from even exploring the possibility.

Hopefully this guy will be good.
