The official ADWD "Pick the Announcement Date" thread

I'm going back to my original date, except adding one year, namely:

Victoria Day: May 24th, 2011. That will make the fireworks extra-special.

Oh dear, that's a little depressing that you had to add a year to your original guess. For the love of god, please don't let us be having this same discussion this time next year!!

I'll reserve my new pick til the new year - I still think (and hope) Mr. Martin may spring it around Christmas.

*fingers crossed*

Let's see... Dec. 7 is the release of the latest World of Warcraft expansion, the day I have to go to court, and the anniversary of the Japanese attack upon Pearl Harbor... let's add GRRM's announcement to Dec. 7... a day that will live in infamy.

P.S. If that does not work, then I'll guess April 17.

Are you a WOW player?

I am now convinced that it will be timed for around the premiere of the HBO series.

As for Boaz's predicament, just don't drop the soap.

First, yes I play WoW. Lindriel on Azjol-Nerub.

Second, why do you guys assume I'm the defendant? Why assume that I'm in a "predicament"? I could be a lawyer... I could be a cop... I could be a witness... I could be the plaintiff... I could be a juror... I could be starting my term as judge... I could be decorating the courthouse for Christmas...

Hmm, here is my guessing list whats your role in that play:
1. witness
2. plaintiff
3. juror
4. defendant
5. cop
6. decorator
7. starting your term as judge
8. lawyer

I suspect Boaz is an infrequent player of tennis.

(In my defence, it's the kind of theory he'd come up with. ;):))

I would have figured you for a Mage, or maybe a Rogue

I'm on Ysera. Zeisa and Astraumbra are my two lvl 80s

Given where you work, and my assumption that you don't do anything that would get you artested, my assumption was jury duty

I see Westeros are reporting that GRRM has only 5 more chapters to write:

GRRM’s editor Anne Groell has revealed that George has informed his publisher that he has five chapters left to write to complete A Dance with Dragons, and that those five chapters already exist in partial form.

According to Anne: We’re hoping to have a finished manuscript by Christmas. He’s told me he has five chapters left and bits of each chapter are done. He really wants it done by the end of the year. We really—I mean really—want to announce the pub date in January.
A Spring 2011 release date is looking strong!

Thanks for that update Mesanna.

It's difficult not to share Cul's reserve after so long, but surely - SURELY! - this is nothing but good news...

GRRM leaves for the Emerald Isle tomorrow, returns mid november

MAYBE he'll have a laptop with him???

Please?

Martin doesn't work while he's traveling, but he will once he gets back.

I understand that he's said that in the past. That was why I said what I said and said it the way i said it :) If the plan really is for the book to be done before the end of the year, as was suggested in another post, I don't see how he is going to finish off the least 5 chapters if he isn't writing over the next month.

Even if he can't type a word, I'd hope that he'd occasionally read some of those five chapters.

On the other hand, he may read the others and decide a tweak or two was in order. (And if this makes the book better, who am I to complain?)

Especially at this stage, since complaining does nothing but kill Starks.
