Looks like we'll all be behind you, Gary...

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Finally, after countless hours of reading and rereading, I have managed to decide who to vote for. Definitely a harder decision than the 75 worder as there were so many great entries. In the end though, my votes went to: Boneman, Culhwch & Teresa Edgerton.

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Many thanks Chaotic and Parson.

It is so damn difficult to choose, because the standard is so high. I still think it would have been harder to choose just one - my undying thanks to the moderators for their decision; I felt that 'rewarding' three people with my votes meant I was choosing three stories that were equally good, rather than the terrible 'sophie's choice' of having to let others go... Maybe five votes in the 500 word challenge..? AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

On that logic, you'd only get ¾ of a vote in the 75-word challenge.

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Perhaps, but the voting itself might be fractionally more difficult than it is now.

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

I'm stuck with my third vote. I know two I'm going to vote for, but... Better go read them again.

edit: Ok I've voted. Cul was always going to get my vote as soon as I read the story. Super tragically romantical!

Voted Parson because it makes me smile every single time I read it.

And... this is the vote I was struggling with. Couldn't choose between TJ, Sapheron and Moonbat. Went for Moonbat in the end because of this line: "!" Genius.

Give your first, second or third vote to Boneman. If you don't, there's every possibility that I will be bearing, and that's an Ursa pun, my my bottom in Harrods window.

Imagine two crescent moons peering out of the sparkling sky. Covered in pimple and hair like scars from crashing asteroids.

It's a very good reason to, VOTE BONEMAN.

Why has this thread turned into a modern day Rump Parliament?

;):)

What's that Ursa?

I know what rumpy pump pump means. In fact saying that brings back a few memories of my youth...

Ah my youth a time that was nearly 35 years ago, and I'm still going like a bees wing.

Well not really a bees wing, more like a terradactiles flap. (Can't spell it)

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

I wonder why our Gary Compton seems to have a complete different personality than when I first knew him? :D

Are the 300 and 75 word challenges changing you in some way, Gary? ;)

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

eeeh, what do you mean Rosemary?

I'm still me I think; I'm pinching me fatty thighs to check?:)

Also, as I've been involved in 3 or 4 of the 75 word challenges and 1 x 300 word; I currently have 1 vote, I hope my success is not going to my head.:)

Anyway onwards and sideways:)

Voted Parson because it makes me smile every single time I read it.

Smiles are what I was shooting for, votes are a wonderful bonus.:) Thanks!

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Phew! That was tough. So many great stories.
Similar to the problems with voting on the 75 word challenge, but it took longer to read and re-read each entry.

Ok, my short list was:

Alchemy – Time is of the essence
SJAB – A conversation
Brev – Lord in waiting
Talysia – Burdens of divinity
Mosaix – Time after time
Teresa – A Fiarytale ending
Chrispenycate – the birth of cosmology
Sapheron – the beginning of time
Mouse – ten to death
Slack – cold hands
No-one – the gnomon
Nixie – keeping time
Harebrain – pavel and horologue
Greenkidz – an eye for an eye
Boneman – boxing day dinner
Precise calibre – one’s man concepts is another alien's curiosity
Culwhch – a clockwork heart

A very honorable mention to No-One.
But in the end I went with, Chrispenycate, Greenkidz and Precise Calibre.

Well done everyone, brilliant stories all round, (except maybe one, which I didn't think constituted a story) :)

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Indeed, much gratitude to Moonbat.

Hmm, I wonder when I should put up the list of those who wrote, but have not yet voted… (there still isn't an "evil grin" smiley.)

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Eek! *contemplates appearance on Chris's hall of shame...* I'm still thinking, OK? I never make my mind up early.

And thanks for the vote, Chris! And thanks to Mouse (and anyone else I've neglected) for the short-list mentioning.

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Oi! There's a week left yet.

I've identified two for my votes but have had to reassess the shortlist, and possibly take one off it. Tense times, tense times.
