Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Now, now, Cul, we're not all as brave as you....;)

My original favorite is still leading so far, but there's one or two other contenders for my vote. And I shall not name names. :p So there.

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Well as it stands two stories have stuck with me. One I've mentioned and one I haven't. But ill have to give them another slower read to be sure...

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

I don't know, is that really bravery? I mean, Cul's the one who flips the switch on the challenge, so he knows when it's going to end. :D (Unless Teresa gets there first....)

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Actually, Teresa generally flips the switch. But everyone knows when it is going to end - midnight GMT on the 23rd, month in, month out....

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Well sure, but even so, it manages to sneak up on someone every time! Reminds me of how my husband asks, every year, "When is Valentine's Day this year?"

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Well, Cul and I have to keep the date and hour in mind anyway, so we're very aware of the passage of time.

Despite a slow start this month, it does look like we'll probably go over 50 stories again. And asking people to write in (for them) unfamiliar genres is certainly producing some interesting results.

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

sheesh! That was the hardest challenge for me yet. A dozen half-formed ideas that never went anywhere and I was beginning to despair. I even watched The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen last night to see if I could get some inspiration (nearly ended up with a weird story that involved a steampunk advert for an alcoholic drink that you put fruit and cucumber in - thank goodness I avoided that one)

This one came to me during the housework this morning and was written and posted within 20 minutes. Not my best by a long shot, but I was determined to keep up my near 100% entry record (only missed the first one). And, I was cutting it too fine for my liking anyway.

Now off to the joys of a kids party in a soft play place - bring on the headache tablets . . .

Somehow I still forget. I think I'm used to the photo competition dates.

You too? We had a birthday party full of preschoolers at the rec center pool today -- I can see how that might inspire some stories in itself!

The interesting part for me is that I actually do write Urban Fantasy more than any other fantasy related genres. :) I just didn't know it's called Urban Fantasy! XD

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

I wrote my story on the 4th. Hated it today, made a completely new one and rushed it in.

Sometimes I stop and ask myself why I don't just look at it all earlier. Then my short attention span kicks in and BAM! it's the following months deadline.

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

You still have time, cornelius. Maybe inspiration will suddenly strike sometimes in the next 15 hours.

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

As of 14:00 BST, I hadn't even the tiniest part of an idea of a story. I now have four different versions, none of which I'm that happy with**. But at least I will be posting an entry this month.

** - And not only because of the absence of the word, kitten (or kittens, for that matter), in any of them.
