Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

Ah! My lack of poetry in my literature classes in school reveals itself once again. I do not believe that I've ever read "The Charge of the Light Brigade."

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

Not wishing to seem in league with the incorrigeable punsters I reduced them to miles…

And, in the meantime, it ghas become cannonical, vegetated and brought us to tears.

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

Even though there were "canons to the left of them, canons to the right of them"?
:D

More recently, and more inclusively, the 600 has become hundreds of millions, the valley has become a mountain, and death has become debt.

I wouldn't want to stimulate this pun fest any more than I already have.

I'm back! Thank you all for your prayers and wishes. There is better than a 50-50 chance that they made me better, time will tell. The artery that is plugged 100% is still with me but all the others are opened up or replaced. There was an accidental ovedose of meds that messed me up pretty good but I'm here to talk about it so all is well.
Thanks again,

You remain in my prayers, and I have every confidence that your immediate future will be healthier than your immediate past. :)

I'm sure they would have a ball.

And it's quite appropriate to have tennis on at the moment

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

I've moved some the of posts about our various surgeries into a new thread, in The Lounge. The moderation team thought it was too long a digression and not really on the subject of the Writing Challenge (or writing in general).

You can find the posts that were moved here:

Many thanks for your (as always) kind words PM.

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

Ahem, we seem to be missing some entries, Mouse, Ursa, TJ, Hoops, Cul to name but a few. I would suggest you all get writing as a certain reptile is taking notes and planning to visit those who chicken out of entering.

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

er... er... plenty of time... *gulp*

And for myself, I haven't been 'cruciating idle. I've got two "soldier" poems, and a Just So story. And I don't think any of them cut the mustard, so I'm searching for a fourth something. (As long as it isn't a bridge.)

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

As long as you're not planning on taking the fifth...

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

If I did plan to take that avenue, I would hope that no-one would try shopping me to the powers that be.

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

I still plan to enter I am just struggling still with my entry. :(

I wasn't going to enter this month. I have limited internet access and have had other stuff on my mind. But nobody calls me chicken! :p

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

Oh, all right then, looking at the number of entries, I admit it. I made it too difficult, even for you lot. And I can't claim I wasn't warned.

Plus I'm going to be away when the thread's closed, and the voting starts (annual dance spectacle). So I won't even get to see how many of the regulars I scared off until I get back.

But it did produce some quite spectacular results.

All I can say is that it was a real eye-opener for me and introduced me to a poet/author who I THOUGHT I knew but didn't really. Whatever I or others think of my entry I enjoyed thinkin writing it more than any Challenge set so far.

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

There are still a little more than two days, and some of our missing regulars have a habit of submitting their stories late.
