Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Yes, sorry about that, Parson. I thought it might exclude me from your shortlist, somehow!

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Dear Judge I know you don't want to count any chickens but If you expanded your story a bit you could turn it into a 'match-book' (groan) But you would need a nom de plume, so howabout Phil Lumeny??:D Glad you liked Bath. I will upload some pics of the temple on my page.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Devil's Advocate for a gripping scifi/fantasy crossover. Especially one that is so very well done.
Woah! Just came back from a week's vacation to find this! Thanks a lot, MstrTal. Much appreciated.

Thanks for putting me on the not-quite-as-short-as-the-shorter-version-of-the-short-list list, Boneman. :)
Ditto!

As for my votes, I will be having a re-read over all the entries and preparing my hopefully short shortlist some time over the next... *runs over to confirm last date of voting* ... 10 days! Phew. At least I have some time to make up my mind.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Many thanks for the vote, Paranoid Marvin. :):)

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Thank you kindly for the votes MstrTal and Alchemist! :) And thanks for the short-listings and mentions!

I went for the following:
  • SJAB's Walking on Broken Glass - I don't really understand it, but it's really well-written IMHO;
  • slack's Cleansing the Waters - I also voted for slack in the 75 word challenge last month, love his evocative style;
  • HareBrain's The Search Light - riveting. I'm looking forward to reading his novel which surely must be published soon!
Honourable mentions also go to Devil's Advocate and Culwhch.

I must admit I really enjoyed participating in this challenge, and reading all the stories :)

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Ursa, Chris and Teresa got my votes as those three entries stood out head and shoulders above the rest for me.

Many thanks to Starbeast and Bob for voting for me, I really wasn't expecting any this month judging by the quality of the opposition. I do struggle with the 300 word challenges.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Hey, Cheers Aun Doorback and LittleMissy for the votes. And for whoever had me on their short list.

Look, for those who are a bit intimidated by the entries and maybe not willing to throw in some of their own material, don't worry. Just write, submit and let your peers have a read. It's great reading other peoples ideas on a theme. I honestly didn't expect any votes and I honestly don't mind if I don't receive votes, it's all about writing. have fun kids.

P.S Score!!! 400 posts!

A score of scores in fact!

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

After reading each carefully I couldn't stop myself from voting for The Judge, it isn't that any of the others where bad - I think everyones did a great job! I just felt that The Judge captured the pictures feeling and inspiration perfectly. It read wonderfully and was just great. Well done!

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Thank you, Star Girl, for the vote and for the kind words. I'm sorry you don't appear to have used your two other votes, though -- we have three for the 300 worder. (Too late now, I'm afraid, as you have to use all three at the same time.)

Thank you also those who have voted unannounced.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

In case anyone missed it, there was one point over the weekend when the Judge had less than three times the votes of her nearest rival. Nail-biting, it was ...

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Thank you, nixie!

HB, you do realise my aim was to get more votes than everyone else put together? So my attempts at subliminal brain-washing have clearly failed -- I shall be demanding a refund on the "Success Guaranteed" MindBending Washobrain-Gizmonotron (TM; Pat Pending). And if they think I'm giving them a testimonial, they have another think coming.

Excuse me for pointing it out, yer Honour, but with three votes per person this is mathematically extremely improbable. Even if everybody voted for you (which seems not far from the actual situation) there would be twice as many leftover votes to distribute among the rest of us.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Yes, yes, someone at the Acme Company mentioned that minor technical point. But "Success Guaranteed" should mean what it says.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

So... I don't know about you guys, but I for one am waiting on pins and needles to see who will take this challenge. Has it ever been THIS CLOSE of a race before! I mean there's only 14 votes between 1st and 2nd.:p

As tight as that!

Even though I am in last (equal) place, I am still only 20 votes behind...

And are you going to admit what figure you reported here before you amended it...? :p

I am terribly sorry for the excruciating tension being created this month, everyone. What with HareBrain's nail-biting and GreenKidx apparently on some kind of bed of nails already, I think I'd better ask the St John Ambulance around to the Chrons.

I think I've finally shut off the MindBending Washobrain-Gizmonotron, by the way. I'm now donating it to a local animal sanctuary, so if you all have sudden urges to adopt a donkey, you'll know why.

EDIT: Oh, dear. I've just thought about the kind of puns this last paragraph will generate...
