Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

EDIT: Oh, dear. I've just thought about the kind of puns this last paragraph will generate...
Oh deer, indeed. Is it likely to get your goat? If so, calm down by giving your cat a tonic.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

It did not take Ursa long to mule that over and come up with a few puns eh?

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Giraffe wi’ ye! Stop lion around thinking of puns and do some aardvark for a change!

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Aun's thrilling closing of the gap raises an interesting question:

Do we also get three votes in a tie-break?

Do we also get three votes in a tie-break?
If we were to get three each, I'd be tempted to mispronounce the name of a particular Thai resort island where one might take a break....

:rolleyes::eek::eek:;):)

That took about a minute of "Koh Samui? What's he on about?" before the realisation.

And I have a vote. Thanks muchly, mosaix! And TDZ for the mention too.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

I shouldn't worry. I expect that there are quite a few of my alleged puns on this board that are yet to be deciphered (ones which I probably couldn't explain if asked).

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Manys thanks for the vote, HJ!

Still not voted. Having trouble with phone line and current broadband. Still, tomorrow the cable guy is coming....:eek: Knowing my luck I will be offline for a month!

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

A somewhat belated thanks to those who voted for (Karn, Greenkidx, paranoid marvin, and Parson) or mentioned my story.

I didn't really expect any votes, considering that I was scrambling at the last minute to finish the story, editing with one eye on the clock, and no time to let it sit while I decided whether I wanted to post it at all. So thank you again.

I haven't been posting in this thread much lately, since I've been busy with other projects, but I have been reading along.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Thank you, Thufir!

The last 10 days have been a bit hectic with clearing my father's house and dealing with all the sale paperwork, but I should finally have enough time over the weekend to read the stories the necessary two or three times each so I can vote.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Voted.

Parson,
Digs,
Culhwch.

All the stories were good and it was very hard to make a choice.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Very difficult. Almost every story contained something to hold my attention and make me pause, but after a good deal of agonising I have a shortlist (and several good stories only just missed out on it):

Aun Doorback - Paradise Re-booted -- clever and funny
Brev - Revelation -- I liked the narrator's voice, very witty
chrispenycate - Launch Pad -- I loved the penultimate paragraph
Culhwch - The Last of My Kind -- for the power of its opening
HareBrain - The Searchlight -- mysterious and poetic
Hex - A Picture of Domestic Bliss -- I loved the narrator's voice!
Hilarious Joke - John's Last Gift -- very moving
nixie - Entry From A Sinner's Diary -- a clever and unusual take
Perpetual Man - Oops -- beautifully poetic (despite the title...)
slack - Cleansing the Waters -- very powerful

And after even more agonising, my votes go to HareBrain, Perpetual Man and slack.

And a special prize for chrispenycate for the best single line of the Challenge: "The shout I ride to heaven will be the thunder I created..." I so wish I had written that!

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Oh wow, not only a mention but a vote from TJ - Thank you so very much!

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

With many belated thanks to Mosaix for the vote!

I reckon the comeback is on...

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Thanks for the vote SJAB. Much appreciated, I assure you.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

For those who haven't voted, we're running out of time to vote, with less than a day to go.
