While HareBrain was on my (unposted) long list, I had digs as a runner up. Sticking with that decision makes voting for digs in the tiebreak easy, and I'm all for an easy life.

Someone else will soon be voting, Mouse, so your decision won't be hanging round your neck for long....

Ey up, where's me post from last night gone?!

I did a shortlist and everything. Bugger.

Well, it seems everyone found the votes I gived them, anyway -- Abernovo was for the promise of hope which I loved, HareBrain for the horror and digs for the sheer poignancy of the story.

I also thanked those who had shortlisted/mentioned my piece and thanked Lilmiz and Parson for the votes. And I thank them again, so I do.

And now to puzzle who to vote for in the tiebreak since I voted for both originally. Anyone want to come up with some good bribes here?

* Hopes digs's bribe doesn't include the offer - off 'er? - of anything from his local KFC. *

...which comment immediately suggests to me the obvious bribe: fudge.

(Which may have been what digs was suggesting, come to think of it.)

And I must admit misreading HB's comment:
I'd have thought a corrupt judge would naturally flavour an Australian.
which had me a bit puzzled.

Holy nutballs! I did not expect to be in a tiebreaker with the illustrious HB...I expected to crush him outright.

Jokes!

Thanks for the votes everyone, I'm stunned. As for you, Gary...*shakes fist*

Sorry Digs, I did like your story and it was no4 on my list. Nothing is set in stone. I will re-read both and decide.

I'm fickle, sometimes I prefer blondes, other times brunettes and occassionally redheads so nothing is in and nothing is out:eek:

I did get a vote in the end! Many thanks Culhwch. :D

Voted on the tiebreak for HareBrain, since it was one of my original 3 anyway.

Well, I didn't vote for either in my first round, so trying to separate them now is quite hard. Both excellent stories and I think it's about time we scrap the tie-break vote and just have two winners. Why not? Or three, if it happens?

Anyway, with nothing between them I tossed a coin three times (as we had three votes) and it came down 2:1 for Digs. Well done both of you!

Thanks for the well wishes. Apparently I was one cup of coffee away from something serious lol

Anyway picked HareBrain for the tiebreaker.

Both HB and Digs got my vote, hard to decide between them but I went for HB in the end.

I felt the same way. It was difficult to choose between two awesome tales.

(still working on the short list) Everyone had exceptional stories of promises in an apocolyptical setting.

I have thee final envelope, containing the second place winner of the

Sci-fi Award - 2nd Place winner

(opens envelope)

There is a tie for Second Place Winner...(gasp)...all of the other entries.

Hmm, there is only ONE...trophy, you'll have to share it. :D

You almost closed the gap Aun, was there a wonky wheel on the trolley?

I have voted again and look forward to the final results.
