You still have time for another. Or ... maybe not. I guess it will be opening for posting any time now. Is it really that time, already?

Yes, it just occurred to me a few minutes ago that it was already tomorrow.

So I've opened the thread.

I'm glad it wasn't just me finding it so. Lots of possibilities, but nothing has solidified in my mind yet.

Something came immediately to mind when I saw the picture.

Welcome to the challenges, guv. If I'm not mistaken, you've broken your duck:)

Good story also!

I'm struggling as I cant get swastikas out of my head. If I go down that route, it will be dark, very dark.:(

Uh-oh, I peered through the window of the 300 word challenge and my jaw dropped at the quality of those that had arrived already. What was I thinking? I held onto my piece of paper with 300 poorly constructed words, masquerading as sentences pretending to be a story. "Lets 'ave a look then" said the man on the door, a burly looking fellow. "Who me?" I said. "Umm... don't think I'll be coming in today." I screwed the paper into a ball and went to buy a new drawing board....

Normally I don't see what's going on - too busy - but happened to see Teresa's posting when it first went up, and immediately I just saw the chimney and swastikas and something jumped up.

I fear I'm a little cliched, but it had to be done, and it's only a fun competition regardless. :)

I really like Teresa's piece though - very tight and evocative wording.

I wasn't sure I would enter this one, but I came up with an idea in the end. 1st person present tense is growing on me...

David & springs, yours are my favourite as yet. :)

With enough zombies, I could rule the world! Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

Um, I mean, I don't know what you mean, Springs.

Yes, some very good stories. All so different -- including those using the swastika-in-the-fence idea.

I've nothing yet, *sigh*.

Still trying to think. Maybe another look at the picture. I never did see any swastika design; I was looking at the town in the background and the coloring of the photo itself.

If the people who own that fence ever read this thread, they'd tear it out and build a new one!

As with the 75 words, not really put as much time into this as I would have liked, but once it is up it frees me to do other things, so....
