Discussion thread -- 75 WORD WRITING CHALLENGE January 2013

Thanks Victoria and Perp for the reviews.

There is a footnote to the tale which is so coincidental that it has made me question if there is a god of wannabee writers. I'll explain further once voting is complete. In a geeky way it put a big grin on my face.

Thanks for the comments, Starbeast.:)

You're welcome Talysia

Thanks, Starbeast. I think I'm definitely going to have to turn this months challenge into an actual book.

Excellent idea. I hope a movie is made from the novel. ;)

Thanks, Starbeast! :)

Starbeast - Thanks for your comments - much appreciated!

Absolutely Stormcrow, I like your stories, I look forward to them.

A. S. Behsam - A powerful gripping drama that almost made me cry. Excellent.

Mischov - You surprised me with the outcome of this tale, well done.

David Evil Overlord - Whoa, I'd like to see this made into an anime, good stuff.

Luiglin - Ahh, the wonders of Future Science, marvelous tale, very well written.

Nixie - I always love a good story about a bright future for humankind, very cool.

Stephen4444 - This took me by surprise, I even like the way you wrote it, including with the font.

Thank you, and may I return the compliment. I rather enjoy your unique writing style. your style has captured my interest since last contest. I would like to read a longer piece, and if you're in need of beta readers, let me know. I will volunteer.;)

Glen – Initially this one came across as a nice light piece that was essentially fun, I mean after all superheroes and all that, and the way they are presented here... but there is a twist and it is dark to the core, using technology at hand to mould another to your will is not just wrong, but frighteningly so., with ramifications and consequences that are chilling indeed.

^ Thanks a lot :) ^_^

Certainly

Thanks so much for the kind comment. It's gonna be tough to pick a favorite with so many great entries! The more the merrier.

I agree, it's going to be hard to narrow down to one vote. And, you're welcome Juelz4sure.

Thanks SB

You're welcome Luiglin

Thank you sir for the spectacular comment, I thought about having a proof-reader to look at my work before I publish anything. I have this idea about creating an anthology and placing my own illustrations within each story to give the reader some nice pictures to look at too.

Sometimes I think I push the limits too far by going for the heavy dark stuff, but I don't hear any complaints. The last 75 entry, I think I had the most disturbing "Vampire Xmas" tale, it came out at a bad time when the media was talking a great deal about crazed killers murdering innocent people. I felt awkward when the news stations made their horrifing reports just after I posted. I had a bad feeling I was doomed, and I was right, I only had Perpetual Man comment. Ah well, just bad timing.

I'll keep writing what I want, good, bad or ugly, it's still fun to go as far as I can with a story while staying within certain limits. I remember a famous author (can't remember the name) once said:

"Write what you feel, and make it real, believe what you're writing, expand your imagination and use the critiques to your advantage because they will improve your craft, and your distinct style will emerge."

I think it was Ray Bradbury who said that to me many years ago.

Thanks Starbeast

You're welcome Nixie

Glen - You're cranking up the heat with a dark sexy tale, talk about getting someone in the mood. Nice spicy story. ;)

Thank you. I wanted to do add to my collection of kitchen tales since seeing the challenge this month. Its not near as epic as my original romp, there were hostages and despots and puns and almost a thousand words with more flooding in. So I had to reign it back to come close to the word count.

PS never let a can of potato soup take you hostage.
